Loop tail ripper. Advice on calipers
« on: April 07, 2009, 08:57 PM »
Hi all

What calipers should I be using on my 83 looptail ripper. I  have a mint set of dia compe Mx1000 but these dont seem to fit on the front, and seem too short on the rears.

Help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Mr F

MX1000's should be long enough, are you sure they're not MX900's ??

Shimano Calipers should also be long enough reach....

MX1000's should fit front and rear, MX900's dont have long enough reach for the rear

Sure its MX1000's you've got?

Here's my ripper with MX1000's on , as you can see there is still room for adjustment on the front but nothing much on the rear and thats with the wheel slammed

Thanks everyone

Yep same on mine. 1000's are at the end for the rears, and up top for the fronts. Actually the 900's fit the front better... I will have a look at the museum section see if I can get some better reference, there must be better fit for the loppy somewhere, or I will just nor put one on the front for the LG's

I'd just fit a rear brake to a ripper, imo they look better

Just my 2 bobs worth...  :daumenhoch:

And get some pics up when you're done...  ;)
