I know nothing about anything other than Old School Caliper Brake Set Ups.... so this next question make seem a bit dim... so I apologise in advance...

Q: Will a U-Brake fit (and work) on V Brake Mounts...????

Good question, I would say yes and no as U-brake or AD990 mounts tend to be behind the bb on the chainstays so cable routing will be the main problem.  yes they will fit, but not likely to work very well however it's a quick job to try it out and see  ;).

no as v brake mounts are further down than ad mounts
a v brake works opposite way to an ad brake just look at where the pads bolt onto the caliper arms on a v brake compared to where the pads bolt onto on a ad caliper arm,the pivot (fulcrum point) is above the pad on ad and below  the pad on a v
