Who were the Johnsons Jets?

Do you remember Teeside Airport BMX track, run by Ian Johnson, team manager of the Johnsons Jets BMX club.

Who were the Jets?

Johnny Longstaff
Lisa Wright
Alan Johnson
John Knotman

Who else?

This is John Knotman taking the win in the "money race" back in 84?
I am number 20 UKBMX taking 2nd and John Tucker is in there somewhere.

Yea that was a great meet that, I was chuffed to bits to just beat Martin Jose in my first moto only to discover he rode the whole track with a flat front tire  :LolLolLolLol: Took fourth in main behind MJ, Scott Williams and Gary Fenwick  :-\.

I've heard that this race is on DVD, would love to get a copy.

Kev was at the national this year like most of us he looks the same with a few grey hairs and a stone on, he rode for Church street cycles.

I got put over the 3rd berm in the lead of the final by Stu Diggins at that Teeside national in 84. Would love to repay the compliment if he starts OS racing  ;D

Anyway ask Alan Johnson who the jets where he's on here as Johnsons Jet
Why oh why do I still buy kids bikes!

Just seen this post Paul,

You got most of em but the full line-up was:

My sister Claire Johnson - Can be found at a spinning class three times a week :P Old habits die hard.
Lisa Wright - Back on a bike and up Hartlepool track now and then.
John Longstaff - Still on two wheels but of the GSXR variety.
John Notman
Guy Meynall
Troy Payne
Jonny Miller
Marc Thomson
Steve Notman
Martin Hawes and me.

Might have forgotten one or two. I'll dig out the old snaps today and get em scanned in. Been meaning to do it for a while.

 ;)

I saw John Longstaff a couple of years ago at Helmsley, I've also got a GSXR, great bike. Have you got a team photo you could post?

Ey up - great days.
Hi Alan - good to know you are still around.
I still see Marc Thompson now - I know for fact he still has some good bikes stuck up in his lost - all untouched and boxed knowing him!
I've just bought a bike 3 weeks ago (got a new school and and old school 20") and am loving every minute.  The wife aint too happy but if I can convince the kids to get involved I might jut get away with it.
I plan to race again in the spring and it would be good to meet up with some of the old crowd.  I can be found on facebook no problem in the manchester network.
Went up the Hartlepool track last week when I was up north.  Very different to what I am used to but good fun.  I live near Crewe now - anyone seen that track - I feel like I have no skills at all on that track!
P.s. - Church Street Cycles - I think Marc Thompson rode for them for a bit - did you know Phil Spacey had a Greek restaurant for a while when he closed the shop!  Good meze mind.

Quality - seen this before.  Pete Butler also has some winter regional footage somewhere.

Did you see how busy it was - so many riders and spectators!
