Blyther @ Pipeline
« on: March 14, 2009, 11:36 PM »
A few years back Hawkins let me have a nose thru his slides (please refrain from the usual comments) & let me get some scanned.
I have a fair few but here are some of Brain that Pete took BITD.
All the shots are owned by Peter Hawkins.
Enjoy.

These pics of Brian are very similar to the pic of him that made me want to get a BMX bike BITD & are still my ideal image of bmx... clean concrete, clear blue skies, nice.

Theres a few more of Mike D, Craig C, Andy S & Tony M from Pipeline plus a load from the Velodrome & Rons ramp, when I get time I might post them up.

Nice one, good pics. The one 2nd from last of the x-up is just fabulous,  :D  i bet that bowl was fairly rough really judging by the shape of the lip. .

Yeah, the bike that Brian is riding is a similar build to this one:

This is the probably my 1st media image of BMX at all & is to this day my inspiration (corny maybe?). I'd seen local kids on bikes but never anything like this until I was in a store in Cosham with my Grandad & I was mesmerized!!! He bought me the magazine & even though he couldnt afford the FST in the advert he did buy me my 1st BMX not long after!

I was lucky enough to go to Shiner a few years back with Hawkins & hand pick what I wanted to build my only OS bike, it isnt a perfect replica but I like her:

Brain still remains one of the greatest ramp riders ever IMO, as good as anyone today.

Awsome pics,thanks for posting........

Not that it is important or anything, but that FST in the pics is actually a Sport painted up as a FST,I asked Brian about the Frame as it looked a little long for a FST as i was going to build a replica some years ago.I think Brian had the frame built to his spec, but basically it was a Sport.

Hope to see the rest of those pics soon DJ....... :daumenhoch:

I was just about to say the same dude, the FST was an inch shorter than the Sport and Blyther was a tall fella. If you check out the pictures you can actually see the gusset behind the BB.

Still rad pics though!!

These are great - Hawkins must have some right corkers - keep them coming.
Love the lookback - his bike angle looks so steep and knarly as he re-enters the bowl...killer style and he was so smooth to watch in real life, him and Camps were the smoothest riders out there.
