Cannondale BMX

Has anyone got one or actually seen one over here?

I know they did both 20" and 24".

Yeah, they had one in a shop I worked at in the mid 90s. It was a 20" frame and forks. It was horrid. The forks legs were ally, and the steel stear tube was held onto the ally legs/crown tube with a pin tube though where the front brake would go. I wouldnt want to ride them!

The shop is still going and I cant see that they sold it. It might be worth giving them a call about it

That would be cool Alex.  :daumenhoch:

It's a show pony anyway so I won't be riding it.

Thanks for the pointer Alex, Search continues though.

I've rung my contact at Cannondale and they don't know of any in any shops either.

Never saw one for real, only the one that Ricky Bollington and Gossa tested in Ride Mag back in the 90s.  I doubt they sold many in the UK as most people still into BMX at that time were very anti-corporate and pro-rider-owned (S&M, Standard, Homeless, WAL, etc.)

Pity the Cannondales were just too late to fall into the 1" threaded/no v-brake mounts category as at least they would be old school legal.  At least they would have a purpose then.

Probably wasn't a Cannondale if it was chromo as I think Cannondale have only ever made alloy bikes.

I think I have a magazine somewhere with a test on it. Probably a UK Ride magazine. I think it was when the magazine was bigger than A4, Im sure I have it somewhere.

If it turns up I will get it scanned for you.

And you think that because of what exactly?

I keep hearing this but I've never seen a cracked one.

I've had Cannondales for the last 15 years and they all get ridden regularly and I've never had a problem.

When I worked in the shop that sold Cannondale there were loads of cracked frames kickin about. Several of the staff ended up with free-bee frames that they patched back together and used for light riding. I took it that Cannondale MTBs were designed for top end riding, and not really for frame lifetime .... but they could have just been crap! lol

I tested one in Ride? Crap, don't even remember that! Fook, i'm getting old!

However I did work for Cannondale for 4 years so if you wish to consult the oracle of everything 'dale, paypal as gift please. :LolLolLolLol:

Those BMX frames were made from tubes and dropouts from other frames (the dropouts were actually from thier city hybrid bikes).

Crack'n'fail, corrode-endale, i've heard them all but my favourite, a guy asked me if I sold that French brand (with accent please) ca-non-da-lay!

iv snaped 2 ahton trials frames and a single speed xc frame i no of plentafill of frames that have cracked-failed-and a&e'd had one guy snap his headtube clean off while doing a stoppy next to me at a red light amusing but painfull to watch.
