Ive worked out how these dropouts work. Its nothing like the simple slammers.

Youd think the person who "invented" them would know how they work ......  :-X

its ok alex, i never said they were the same as the simple just along the same lines,  i took the picture with the the spacer in the wrong way

The washer in the picture is in the correct way round. The tag at the back isnt to wedge the wheel (like simple slammers) its to make sure the washer doesnt spin round, cos it will only work in one direction.

Who invented them Alex ?

I dont know who came up with the idea, but it doesnt sound like it was Dibly  ;D

if you look real closely at the pic you can see how they work.

it has to be really close tho. 8) seems like a decent idea i think.

Yeah, I loved the idea at first but I aint so sure now. I think the non drive side might slip backwards real easy. Like throw your wheel out of line if you hit the wheel sideways. It'd be good to see how the proto types work out.

i've only ever used a chain tensioner on the one side, and never had probs. you can get a real good torque on 14mm axles.

I agree, sorry but i find it hard to believe that people have problems with wheels moving when using 14mm axles with the nuts tight, I'm sure my rim would fold before the axle ever moved in the dropouts.

I like the Simple washer idea, a fine example in lateral thinking. I'll be using them in the future. I've also always wondered why companies haven't developed a smaller tidier version of the snail cam adjuster. It pushes instead of pulls, there are no nuts or bolts involved and all the frame needs is a small roll pin or similar in front of the dropout slot for the snail to locate on. It allows adjustability and prevents the wheel from slipping forward, without having owt hanging out the back of the dropout.

Hey buddy - yeah, I'm back.

I've not really looked at the orginal post to be honest, I kinda skipped through the comments and because poor old Dibbers got on the defensive so quick I've not bothered....

I'll go and look now   :)
