Anyone got these, know much about them?

They weigh in light, lots of new cheap sets about at the mo at half retail which makes me suspicious  :-\

Be careful with Wombolts as they are prone to breaking but I believe odyssey beefed them up after all the failures so if you get them make sure you get the very latest ones.



Profiles are the best in my humble opinion, fit them and forget about them.

i've seen a few pics of broke off wombolts,

and a few pics of profiles failed too,

even a snapped primo powerbite,

i wouldnt immediately distrust any of them though and would feel confident riding ANY of them

bmx parts break.

nature of the beast and all that,

comes down to luck and how hard you ride.

why cant u just swap the crank round thus having the sprocket on the oposite side?

You usally can, but some cranks only have one sprocket bolt meaning that when you reverse them the pedal threads are on the incorrect sides, and as pedals are left and right specific they are on the incorrect side of the bike if you reverse your cranks.
There can be a solution on most pedal types by swapping the axles from pedal to pedal, I once ran my pedals on the wrong sides and tbh I cant see what the big deal is.


yeah I agree all cranks break but there were loads of incidents of broken wombolts compared to other topend cranks.

i think v1 fly cranks broke the most, v2 wombolts are pretty good imo, just out of interest why not run left hand drive anyway, micro sprockets kinda take the need away to go one side specific

The pedal threads are left & right so as you pedal you will alway be tightening the pedal up, you could swap the pedal spindles & I'm sure that unless you seized up the bearings in the pedal it would not unscrew itself in normal use  :daumenhoch: + maybe put some thread lock tight on to make sure  8)

I guess as long as you don't already have the rear wheel then either left or right drive will be fine  :daumenhoch:

Back on the subject of cranks, unless your gonna be doing 12 foot airs or jumping down 10+ stair sets i wouldnt worry bout running wombolts...  :daumenhoch:

I run Fly v1 cranks and dont do the above...  :-[ .... fit and forget they've never given me a problem

The only critisism i have of wombolts is when you wanna remove/ re fit em to a differant frame the cluster thing inside has usually fallen apart, i can be re fitted... just pack it back in with grease... just a pain in the arse when it drops in bits...  >:(

The Twombolts have solved the problem of the cluster falling apart with a new band around them - easy peasy now to fit and re-fit.

Ive had the same set of RHD profiles for years (before LHD ones were out). When I started using LHD i swapped them round and swapped round the pedal spindles so the cages were on the correct side. Im still using the same profile cranks, although I have changes my pedals a few times. (its much easier to swap pedal spindles on sealed bearing pedals  ;))
