HARO GEN 1 FREESTYLER COMPLETED
« on: March 02, 2009, 01:58 PM »
Hello all. Here's the 1st of 3 i'm building at present, completed it at the weekend. BIG HUGE MASSIVE THANKS to these people to make this build possible: Chris (wish I kept my TA), Rhys (lazychubs), Paul (db250f), Del and Biagio.

I'm missing the crank decals and also a left hand Blue Haro Lever, if I can locate that then i'll add the front MX1000 on to finish it off nicely.

The next Gen 1 is going into the chromers later this week hopefully and that's going to be built with all White Parts and the 3rd one, i'm not sure what to do with that yet  :)

I was asked to take it into the local bike shop here in Epping on Saturday and it created quite a stir. Quite a few dads popped in with their sons and I was chatting to them about the bike and stuff BITD. One of them used to ride at Rom a lot, his cousin isn't part of any forums but has over 12 restored bikes in Chigwell (including Kuwaharas and GHPs!) and i've got his number and one guy said instantly that's a Haro Gen 1 Freestyler 1982 as I bought it through the door. I was chatting to him and he has boxes of old school stuff that he acquired 8 years ago, i'm going round there tomorrow night for a look ::)

I hope you like it. Parts rundown is:

- Haro Gen 1 Freestyler Frame/Forks with Hatta headset
- Skyway Alloy Hubbed Tuff wheels with black skyway tuff pads
- NOS Blue Haro lever with Green DC cable and DC MX 1000 caliper
- Blue MKS rat trap pedals
- Tuf neck disc with Sugino chainring machined teeth with Sugino bolts
- Peregrine 3 piece crank
- Tioga comp pool tyres
- Haro Vector bars
- NOS Kashimax blue seat
- Ody seat post
- NOS Blue DC Double bolt seat clamp
- NOS Blue Oakley 2 grips with donuts

Matt  :)

Paul hi mate. I felt the green MX went with the green in the decals and the tyres, well are just pure sex  :D couldn't resist. I could go down the usual blue MX 1000 route and ST's but everyone has done that with their Gen 1 builds, I just fancied something a bit different  ;)

Very nice, but as a freestyle bike it needs a front brake  :daumenhoch:
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

For this build Nick I wanted as many Haro parts on it as possible. Yep they were shite to use, but for a gen 1 build they look the part I feel  ;)
