rust?

the two places where my bikes are kept are the loft and the lean to.  both are freezing cold and everything in them is freezing cold and slightly wet. i'm guessing bikes will rust if the cold weather carries on.

is there a spray for this sort of thing or do i just use wd40?  i thought about an electric heater on low full time but i think it will cost too much.

I was looking into this for alltogether different reasons - protecting my polished nickel (after blood sweat and tears !) from oxidising and going dull again and i wondered about WD40, but then I read on another site that there may be some thoughts towards WD40 being hydroscopic (attracting water or aiding water transfer to the metal or some sh!t - google it !) anyways their suggestion was to use a very light clear cooking oil such as canola oil - rub it on and wipe off the excess.
Haven't tried it out yet but i'm deffinitely going to

vasoline.........smeer it all over the chrome parts and it'll keep the damp off (so i'm told)

if youve ever taken a greasy part off a moriss minor, when every other bit is rusty as fook, and that isnt, 40 years later, it MUST work.

it would probably discolour stickers though.

there is a realy good spray on stuff called ACF50  demontweeks sell it  its use in aircraft made by lear industrys , its very good

WD40 all they way. I use it on my Motocross bikes when you cold weather comes and it works a treat

Yeah, I used to soak my roadbike in WD for the commute into London, it kept everything nice. Suzuki Bandits are notorious for corrosion if you don't keep on top of them.  WD definately worked for me.

if its just cold and damp, try a de-humidifier.... costs nothing to run....

scottoil fs365 its designed as a protector for motor cycles its like the original duck oil where as wd40 is a penetrant & dose,nt last as long + fs365 is a pump spray so it has no nasty propellants .you can buy it from most motor cycle shops & it lasts ages

A light oil similar to the old 3in1 kinda thing , just wipe over to create thin layer & it never drys ( like some will & I was told WD would ? ) .

Just bring em in the house where they'll be nice n warm... 

Pedals and wheels off you'll be surprised where you can stash em, i've a Dirtbike under the bed and a gen1 in and on top of a wardrobe

Like I said up there ^^^^^ , a light oil is good . It coats the surface but does'nt dry , making it easy to wipe off after storage .

cheers guys, i think i might try some acf-50  , or just skip the bikes
