setting up a pitbull through the seat tube?
« on: February 10, 2009, 11:34 AM »
okay, i have a pitbull on my race bike but the frame allows me to fit it on the chainstays instead of the seat stays.  it has a hole through the seat tube for it but what bits do i need to run it through?

sorry to sound stupid.......i'm not sure if it's threaded or not?

glad you asked, cos everytime i strip mine i try, but cant get it on, the long thing on top ??? that takes the cable is too long, (and no adjustment) to fit into the space between the wheel and seat tube, but like you, one day i WILL suceed, SLEDGE HAMMER,  >:D

Mr Magoo, you have to scrap the little bit the cable runs through when you run it on the seat stays.....as that's what it's for, to act as the frame stop.   i just need to know what to use in the frame?

not sure if it's the same, but the S&M heavy as f*** frame i just sold had an adjuster screwed in looked just like an adjuster off a gyro or summat, or maybe off a brake caliper.

when ever i have done it, i have removed the arm that has the adjuster on top, and taken a normal adjuster from a brake and popped that into the hole on the seat tube, the hole in the seat tube isnt usually threaded and the tension in the cable when set up will hold everything in place

it works like a 990 set up on the dirt bike and holmes, then u can adjust it with the adjuster in the seat tube

hope that makes sense  :) :)

no worries  :) :)

ps, leave the little nut on the adjuster especially if its not threaded in the frame, that way u will be able to adjust it, otherwise u end up starting all over again lol
