Just to make you feel better Simon I can tell you that for various reasons I am doing six rounds in the South West to qualify Matt & James for the Brits.  That's a minimum 400 mile round trip x 6.  In a van doing say 40mpg on diesel.  You do the maths.   :D Plus accommodation and cost of new race bikes for 2009.  Ah, well it's cheap!!   ;) Humps

I'll be on a Dialled in time for the Summer series.

I'd hardly call an Intense a POS though, alright the frame design is a bit marmite but it rides and handles better than any cruiser I've ridden.

Just sat down and worked up what it would cost to start from scratch to race a whole season in the north

Bike - £1800+ (my haro cost bout 400.00 as is and repairs are not lot )
Kit - : helmet free from russ :daumenhoch:body armour etc round 100.00 last ages)
Licence - £32
Race Fees - £7.00 a race average say 7 meets per season
Travel Expenses - £10.00 average again diesel per meet
Food and drink - £0.00  bring sarnies and drink can stella and wham bar with 20 roll up

Total for 1 seasons regional racing in the north is £670.00 including bike which has so far lasted 2 seasons

Obviously you can massively reduce or increase costs but i find it quite a cheap sport in general

bof
