When all the handbags are put away, this issue of frame weights and longevity is actually a very interesting subject.

It certainly is!!

Trying to decrease weight has been tried before but didn't succeed.

Its alway going to be a contentious subject!!  ???

I was selling sub 4lb frames more than 4 years ago  ;)

No mate.  Just got the new BMX race frames due to land.  Next BMX frame after that will probably be a trails frame (similar to original MX20 frame but with 990 mounts and a few tweaks here and there.

Dunno when I will get round to doing a park frame.  Maybe protos in 2010, test for a year, then production in 2011.

I'm going to ask what may be a dumb ass question....

What benefit is there to a lighter bike?

Surely you get used to what you ride and only notice the difference when you swap bikes, i.e. your body adapts to riding / sprinting / doing tricks on a specific bike over time.

In fact surely a slightly heavier park bike will give you more momentum.  ???

It`s the Scottish mafia that seem to have a problem with these frames, could that be because the frames carry a Union Jack on them ?

If you don`t think a frame is going to be strong enough for you then don`t buy one, but don`t then start slagging them off, just get on with riding your own bike  :daumenhoch:

union jack, what you on about?

It's not a dumb question Barnaby!

I made the decision to go for a lighter setup so that I could ride for longer as I was finding I was fooked after a couple of hours riding (hucking) on my last bike. I've spent a considerable amount of money to save about 5lb's in weight:

Fly Campillo frame = 4.2(ish)lb
Victim Ti/mag pedals
BSD Ti crank spindle
Ti wheel nuts & Macneil seat bolt
KHE tyres
new wheels
etc etc

fact is I'm still fooked after 2 hours riding!!!! :LolLolLolLol: Ah well I do still like me bike tho :smitten:

With regards to Dibly & UKbikes, I remain squarely on the fence & I'm sure time will tell if he got it right or not but I will say good luck to him :daumenhoch:

i don't have a problem with this frame, i can make my own judgements on bike parts perfectly thanks very much.

i thought it would be useful for folk to see proof that 'one' frame has cracked, as no-one seemed to believe it was possible.

the other thread was getting out of hand and turning into a slagging match full of rumour and innuendo, however here is the second piece of photographic proof on here that a frame is capable of breaking. a lot of folk on here didn't seem to think this was possible for some reason, perhaps they were afraid of upsetting the guy who runs the company because he's a forum member? don't believe everything you read on the internet kids!

i'm sure mr dibbly would rather sell 500 frames and have no problems, than to sell 1000 that all break.

anyhow, i wish mr dibbly all the best (again) and hope all his future frames lead long and fruitful lives!

oh, and heres a bit more info on the 'union flag' for you bill, as you can see, it incorporates the St. Andrews cross of Scotland-

Glasgow Celtic seem to run with the Irish tricolour  :-X  and don`t the Scots treat Maradonna like a hero ?
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

Nick you are sex on legs and if it wasn't against God's will i would make you my wife but these bikes are in no way iconic!!

I'm not jumping on the anti UK bandwagon and good luck to the fella but 'innovative' and 'iconic' are not words i would use.

....and because the Ripper is an icon it still doesn't mean it was a good bike! (it wasn't)
