Scratches on Shimano DX pedals.
« on: February 01, 2009, 03:29 PM »
I have a set of 9/16 Shimano DX pedals that are in pretty good condition.

BUT..... there are scratches on both pedals which could do with a bit of care.  How and what is the best way to smooth them out. I'm hoping to leave them in silver.

many thanks.

use a sanding block and carefully follow the contours on the pedals

I used some mini files on mine, they are about 15 notes for a selection of 8 or9 with different radius's on them from a flat one to a variety of curved one's to a variety of triangular one's. they help you keep the angles of the pedals crisp and the lines strait. Then go through the grades of wet and dry.

Here is a pic, i have a before somewere but cant find it, i will post it up later but this is almost half way through and as far as i have got. i am doing them bit by bit. its a bloody messy job though.

i will take a pick of the files later to.

hope this helps mate  :daumenhoch:

Cheers Steve, they're in much better condition than the ones on my Quadangle.

I just wet and dryed those for ages and then had them painted. The paint covered the rest of the marks as i was too lazy to complete them.  :LolLolLolLol:
