Just wondered if an mx seat clamp would fit around the chainstay tube?

Anyone? ???

It should do but you'd have to take up the slack to stop it moving!!

Some old inner tube wrapped round should help!!

Or just buy a frame with a coaster mount on it!!   :LolLolLolLol:

Yes Nick use some PVC insulation tape, you could use some the same colour as the bike  :daumenhoch:

Let me know if you need some  :)

I did.  It's too big for the tube so I used the plastic sleeve that came with a wonder light. I had to twist the coaster arm to line up with the bolt though.

All the old mags say that you should band the coaster arm in two places (like a lazy _/     ) so its directly under your chainstay tube.

If your know what I mean!!

I have a ACS Freecoaster if you want Coasterbrake and Freecoasting capability!!!  :daumenhoch:

do you need to take the coaster arm off to bend it?

Just about ready to fit mine.

The coaster arm on my NS Tuff is quite thick and is already bent to a lazy S shape, so it didn't need bending!!  :)

I dont know about OS coaster arms!!

How easy is it to bend?

We ran coasters BITD, mine was on a quad, and Faze7-Dave's was on his Ripper.

We used the MX seat clamp trick, and didn't bother bending the coaster arm - we just let the arm flex into shape when we tightened the clamp. We ran them like this without any problems.

Photos - to help.

You should be fine.......

If you've got a NS Coaster than you wont need an MX Seat clamp!!

It already comes with a Mounting Strip.  Just bend the fooker around your chainstay and line up the holes!!

Make sure you protect you chainstay first with tape and make sure its super snug.   If not then build it up so that the mount is securely fixed when tightened!!

The old school coaster tuffs came with the mounting strip too, but we fitted the MX calmp because it looked trick and was a bit more substantial than the strip. I don't know what the new school ones look like, but the old school strip was a thin cheap looking strip of silver metal with a slot than bent around the frame.

I think thats why the NS tuffs come with the pre-bent coaster brake arm.

To make sure the arm is directly beneath the chainstay to stop the Coaster mounting strip from being ripped off!!  :daumenhoch:

Hi. I think I took the arm off the wheel to twist it.  Put one end in a vice holding the bit that goes near the hub flat and put a big adjustable spanner on the other end. It didn't take much to do.
Looking at the picture reminded me to say I put it on the bit of the rear triangle that goes up to the brake. It's not on there now though so I haven't got a picture.
When I had some spare time at work I made a special clamp up with the right size hole in it, which is on the bike now.

Not a brilliant picture, and I forgot to say it's an original Suntour coaster.
