DP Freestyler
« on: January 17, 2009, 05:47 PM »
Hi guys

I think I have decided to probably sell my DP, but am not convinced.

I had it when I was 13 or 14, now 37.

I have just done a resto on it, blasted, powder and new decals, and to be honest, it looks better than it ever did when I was a kid, probably due to earning more than a paper boy now!

The reason is, I also bought a Floval Flyer, 2008 model in November, this was to get fit on, and get a bit of bottle back to have a crack at OSS racing (on the DP), I love the SE, it fits me well, but,  I rode the DP yesterday, it felt so skittish and twitchy, and with my 14 stone on it, a bit too top heavy, (although I pulled a perfect `whip-floater' on the 2nd attempt!!) to be honest, it felt dangerous.

Obviously, The wife says sell it, I doubt I shall ride in anger ever again, do I keep it in the shed and ignore it, to go through the resto again in 10 years, or move it on in todays `boyant' market.

What sort of price would I expect, spec below?

araya 7x's early `80's (from a DB silver streak) comp 111 copies new
Takagi 0pc, tuf neck disk, pro neck 42 chain ring,`80's, DX copy pedals (mid 90's pedals)
Dyno stem and freestyle bars, unknown make (both mid 90's)
Dia compe MX1000 brakes (front SC, rear not, both without semi's) tech111 levers, both same hand all early `80's
suntour seat clamp, supported layback seat post, cut down,``80's, SE seat, from floval OR Elina UL with fibre glass post, new
Tioga headset and open b/bracket original `80's
ODI mushrooms new

All bits re-painted, VGC, i.e. all new spoke nipples,
Rides well, looks good, It's not faultless, but the finish is better than factory!!

How do I post pics?

Any thoughts fellas
