Skyway ta question
« on: January 14, 2009, 06:55 PM »
Hi,

Been asked about a TA which has a serial number BUT no skyway or date stamp.

I sort of remember something about a company buying up the parts to make the frames, and then making them but selling them as not branded TA's

Anyone shed some light on this ?

Yup there's been at least one of them floating about which i've seen a few times now. Funmonster had it at one time. I'm pretty sure his had Skyway stamped in the knurling on the dropouts though.

Yep, it was me who started the TA serial number list.

The K ones were the initial ones that had a K serial number and skyway stamped in to them but no date

Dirt bros , now that was what i was thinking of.

If its a chrome one with just the serial number stamped on the bottom bracket but without the skyway and date stamp there, then yes.

I was asked by someone else about it, and this is why i started this thread

At the end of the day its still a skyway TA frame and forks, just probably one sold under the dirt bros name

***update*** frame arrived today should read "skyway usa 02-83 0000032" but think its been rechromed or polished so much that all you can make out it "*****y usa 02-** 0000032"  must be a really early usa made curved bridge frame and forks
thanks for your help
its my first build so al probs be needing more help in the future

Ah, well that would explain it.

Thought the chrome looked too good for being original

What makes you think it's got anything to do with DBI? All the evidence i've seen tells me DBI used rank and file TA frames they bought from Skyway.
