RAREST OLD SCHOOL PARTS
« on: January 12, 2009, 08:53 AM »
What are some of the rarest parts in the world? Could be anything from a f/f, to some pedals or even a single small component. Terry Jenkins has the nos Gen 1 Haro and I'm sure there can't be many of those about and that Holeshot on here recently was bloody rare, but there must be things even rarer than that hidden away. Do you have something or know of something so rare that there's only one or two in existence?

Rumor has it the final nail in the coffin came when Hutch designed a new Aluminum racing frame. It was extremely light. (The frame weighed 1lb 9 oz.) However it didn't hold up well. A kid was seriously hurt on one when the frame broke. Hutch was sued. The frame was recalled. Again, this is frequently referred to as a rumor. I am unsure as to the complete authenticity of this.

As regards rare british parts,Curtis Cruisers seem to be fairly thin on the ground? they were only sold as a f+f set, possibly bars aswell? I know of three only.

I'd add my Rebel cruiser to that list.  Apart from the one I have, ive seen maybe one other (although that might have been the same one prior to powder coating by a previous owner).  Ive never managed to confirm that.

Those Hutch brakes are funky as ! , here are some pics that some have probably seen before . Woody Itson at the El Dorado OSBMX event last year with his Trickstars ( which he still owns ) from bitd , one in Gold and the other in futuristic black . Both running those brakes & SST hubs ( uber rare coaster rear sets ) .

futuristic black. now does anybody like a hammerite as a finish. hutch does make me laugh sometimes.
reedy pedals are rare. 7b's and ambrosio rims are few and far between, campagnolo bmx pedals cranks and hubs are rare and very very nice, mx5 headsets are not common, nice repro profiles are very rare.
