super tight freewheel!

Hi chaps,

trying to get a freewheel off of a mates rear tuff.

putting an amazing amount of torque through the thing and it just won't budge.

maybe we are turning it the wrong way?

do they come of in pedal forward direction or pedal back?

A freewheel tightens as you pedal!!!

So the opposite will loosen it! 

Leverage is the key!!

I use a long lever and then twat it with a lump hammer!!

Whichever way the freewheel spins freely is the way you have to unscrew it

  It used to be called anti-clockwise when I were a lad!

put it in a vice, leave the tyre on for grip - left turn clyde!!!

-Put the freewheel tool on the freewheel, and hold it in place with the wheel nut.

-Put the TOOL in a vice and turn the wheel, like you were driving a bus.

This is THE best way to remove a freewheel. Works even better if you have a nice fat tyre on there for extra leverage.


(Note: make sure that once the freewheel is "cracked" and has started moving, you stop and take of the wheelnut. It wont come off very far with it on there)

remember if you are using a left hand drive system, s&M Alex tm,  (which you almost certainly won't be on a tuff) you'll need to "right turn clyde"
