grips on?

Ok guys, you must all have done this a thousand times.

What is the best way to get new grips on?

wd 40 if you MAY want to take them off again.

carpet spray adhesive if not.

I haven't tried WD40 yet!!

I keep forgetting to buy some.

So I clean the Bars!!

Then use Zip Ties (4 of them) inserted into the Grip.

I slide the grip onto the bars (with the smooth side if the zip tie facing the bar) and they easily go on.

Then I pull the zip ties out leaving the grip in place!!

They dont move!!

Sound shite but I have done this on all of my builds and it seems to work!!

little bit of washing up liquid smeared onto the bars and slide on.
takes a while to dry though for safe riding!

rub a vanilla slice on your bars first, then fit grips, eat slice.

Dont use WD40.... it takes forever to dry!

Get some GT85, unlike WD40 it doesnt contain oil, squirt some inside the grips, slide em on 2 mins and they're stuck good n proper.. 

Also good for removing grips, slide the little straw that comes with the can under grips... squirt... twist... they're off!

Providing you can find the little straw, usually right at bottom of tool box...

Hairspray as it goes tacky and helps them stick.  however, you can still get them off again

I wouldn't use WD40 personally. Hairspray, Lynx or something like that. The best thing I've used is a cooling gel for mosquito bites! Grips go on nice and easy and when it dries they won't ever budge, but if you wanna get them off just work some water underneath the grips and it goes nice and slippy again after you've worked it around a bit as it's water soluble

someone told me that Zippo lighter fluid works well,

never had an issue with WD40, spray a little in the grip and bang em on....dry in minutes

WD40 for getting em on and off. 100% success rate here.

to get em off use the little red tube to inject the wd40 down the grip, squidge it around and off it slides.

to get em on, spray the inside of the grip and the outside of the bars both with WD40, squidge em around to even out the wd40 and let em dry.

Hairspray - never fails.  Would never do anything else.

Small amount inside the grip - on it goes - dry in 24 hours in a warm house.

When you want the grips off - lift the side up with a small plastic rod or something - bit more hairspray in - off they come.

Never ever had a problem.

P.s. - the wife uses Elnet - or at least she did till I wasted it all on grips!

whats the best new school brake? hombre is cheap and works, all the others nice branded ones work but cost more.

what's the best tyre? there's loads to choose from, most are black and grippy so it often comes down to weight.

well, I've done it

And I used the Zippo lighter fluid that was recommended by a friend overseas.

Just wanted to run the question past you lot to see if any of you had any suggestions that made more scientific sense.

you didn't, so I went ahead with plan A, and it worked a treat!

I can heartily recommend it. took seconds, dried quickly, but not too quickly to get things just so,

and when you are done with the grips you can go round the house setting fire (temporarily) to anything you fancy

I found a 62 strat and a 52 telecaster that won't be needing a polish any time soon. (well not until they cool down a bit)

but i use ,,break and clutch cleaner form halfords ,,,been doing it for years with motorbikes

spray it in the grip push the grip on, and 10 seconds later  when it evaporates,  stuck like shit to a blanket ,,but not stuck forever
