Damp ramps???

What's the score with damp ramps?

Not enjoying not being able to ride as much as I want due to damp weather   :-\

Near me I've got loads of out door ramps varying from concreate, to wood to metal.

can I ask some of you with more experience than me which are OK to use if slightly damp and how can I make it safer to ride them?

SHould I just wait until spring and keep to indoor parks for the time being?

as Jai says, watch the wet coping, a lot of folk lift the front wheel over the coping a touch anyway.

Concrete: I taught myself to pop out and roll in on some small concrete ramps in the rain, on my own, first time out on a new school bike, but just try it. I guess what will happen is the grip gives up less predictably.

Wood: damp, no totally dry is sometimes okay, but I've found you often get a kind of "slimey" coating on damp ramps, esp in the shaded part if it's not in full sun to dry out.

Back in the day we would just pour petrol on damp ramps and burn them.If done right they would dry out pretty quick.Good days!!

Hmmm - might take a rag / old towel with me to dry the coping on my local mini then.

Have been known to take a window cleaners blade down with me to clear off the dampness / standing water - works a treat during summer when you have dew or rain from the night before.

Worth changing the tyres to something more suited? Running Fit FAF's at the mo...

Unless it was dry i'd stay away or go an indoor park, it aint worth the risk

Mind you i manage to fall off on a regular basis indoors...  :D
