IDENTIFY MY 24"???
« on: December 11, 2008, 05:21 PM »
Just got this today from a mate of a mate out of a shed clearance.     its pretty much as in the pics other than the seat is now with my mate as that was his drink for getting the bike for me.

its got a few random stickers on it like WHITE BROTHERS and others like random motorcross ones.   but theres a UNIVEGA one on one of the fork legs that looks quite old?  not sure may be wrong.   it also seems to have had a rivited on headbadge at some point but this is now missing (rivit still in place)
there are also some numbers on each of the rear dropouts, which read as following.......   on the crank side is : G0784   on the otherside it reads   : 4206647

any help greatly appriciated so i can get the resto underway ;)     wooo hooo my first 24"      such a long wait for this day :'(

Just stripped it down now.   both wheels are buckled beyond use. the hubs are nackered too so gonna use some NOS sr sakae ones that i have.  the crank bearings were in bits. as were the headset bearings.    (split in solid halfs!!) it has no brakes so thats the blank canvas that i love ;)

cheers for your help guys ill try contact those guys you mentioned when i figuer out how to work the seach  :uglystupid2:

From what i was told by Dibly when we did ours (my son and i) the hubs are as rare a rocking horse sh1t. Along with the rims there are not many survivors, if you do change them don't throw them away. Use whatever wheels you can get as spare but try and refurbish the original wheels.

I'll try and find the original topic, give us a minute or two.  ;)

i think if i say your kid has skills would be an understatement!!!!  that thing ended up amazing!!   i was tempted to spray mine as the chrome aint to clever.   but im probably going to wait for some money and get it chromed now..... ;)       the wheels are not good tho.   they are both buckled   not a real load but a decent knock. and the hubs and brake surfaces on the rims are rusted to hell too :-[
