Taking pegs off and on?
« on: November 26, 2008, 09:32 AM »
Got pegs on my bike - Jedi and Markatkins put them on for me using their tools - I've got to take my wheels off to get the bike in my car but have no tools for it.

Where is the best place to get the right bits to do this and what do I need?

I think it is 13mm socket, 19mm deep socket, extension bar and ratchet wrench, is this correct?

Looked at Halford, Screwfix and PVRdirect.co.uk

you need to know what your sizes are for sure, 19mm on your 14mm rear axel and 13mm on your 10mm front?

i have one of those new dk random wrench V2, or i will when santa lands, and i've checked that it has the bits to fit my bike.

i know ride in cov do the old dk wrench for £20 and it should have everything you need.

Machinemart worth a look if you have one near, sometimes its more cost effective to buy a complete socket set.
Halfords will sell the sockets individually.

Usally if your running a 10mm axle front and 14mm rear the nuts are: 15mm front and 17mm rear but try and check this first as yours could be different.

yeah that's a good point, I'm sure mine, 14mm rear and 10mm front both have 15mm nuts on.

Checked and its 19mm rear and 15mm front...

Seen the Random Wrench Mk1 for £15 so going to go for that as is cheaper than getting bits seperately.

yeah £15 is a bargain, evans do em for that. amazing.

also you can lose the bits you don't need and swap in some other bits you might, or keep it as is to help any riding buddies with different sized bits.
