Trident
« on: November 24, 2008, 12:02 AM »
Hi
I am trying to source as much information on Tridents.
I have never seen one in a gallary shot, not much info on them at all.
I believe they were manufactured by VDC as a budget alternative racer for hot wheels.
I remember there being two generations with I believe the only change being the decals, going from bubble black to some trick Red or Blue stripey affair.
If you have any info, magazine copies, photos of people you knew who rode them I would be realy interested as my OS racer was a Trident. Unfortunately it got stolen.
Research material very appreciated.
In fact a copy of BMX Bi-weekly Vol4 Iss2 1984 has a test apparantly
Cheers and did you all know its nearly Christmas? :crazy2:

Try Mr Burgundy, as he posted "Trident frame, forks and bars" as a reply to a post asking for names of all VDC made kit over on osbmx back in 2007!!

Yeah sorry Dave  ;) Did not mean to give one false hope
Especially as I have only ever seen one on ebay. Bizzare I thought these were knocked out in their hundreds in the UK.

Cheers :Great_Britain:

Yeh man i used to have one well the frame & fork set. Got it new from Kens bikes i think about £100. It was very light but not strong, it was chrome
not for long, the welding was poor.  When i had a clean out in the loft, out of about 8 os f&f the trident and r burner just had to go.
Tridents not a bike that should be rememered R.I.P & the r burner was to heavy for ceilling joists.

Cool Crabtree do you have any pictures? I knew of three other Tridents when I was a kid, none broke. Did you break yours?
Agh all should be remembered, Sinclair C5, Raleigh Grifter (heavy as you could ever imagine) it had grip shift, Betamax video tapes, Mini Metro. Somebody somewhere has fond memories for all these products. I remember some dude fitting a set of flights to a Grifter. Awesome. I do agree though early raleighs were Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavvvvvvvvvvvyyyyyy. Especially if you were a 7 year old kid trying to race round the track.
Cheers for the feedback please do post any pictures you have. Cheers :) :Great_Britain:
