I'd listen to what he said and consider what the possible consequenses were.

Most doctors don't understand people like us, they deal with couch potato's and normal people. My doctor said I'd never have the full use of my hand after my broken wrist. I was back racing 2 1/2 months later.

However if there's the chance of long term damage and discomfort then I'd just walk away because I want to be fit and active for not only my children but also my grandchildren.

20 years ago i'd have told him where to go, lifes for living

but now, its bad enough that i'm doing a job i've been told not to do since back surgery, so wouldn't wanna make myself suffer anymore when i get even older and greyer.

already feel the benefit of many crash's in my teens in cold weather :LolLolLolLol:

Dan I would like to say "f*** it, i'm gonna ride still" and in fact have when my doc said:

lose weight or die, which i did then put it back on again, then said when i had a wrist issue "you should reconsider your choice of sports (snowboard and bmx) you're 36 not 26)

however Dan, I suspect this is to do with your hip, and if that's the case it might seem the thing to do now to ignore the doc, but what about in 20 years? when you can't manage the stairs etc?

just a thought, but f*** it, have a beer, have a smoke and ride on.  :daumenhoch:

I might join a forum or two, possibly even amas a collection of bikes that I sit and tinker with periodically but look at mostly, I may start arguments with fellow forum members for little of no reason which ends in me saying I am leaving said forums...but never do.

What I would do is ignore the fucker like I have done before and double my efforts to ride whenever and wherever I can :daumenhoch:

Dan, since you don't ride too much, and with new hips in, i reckon you should be okay, i don't see how a little riding is all that different from day to day living, so carry on, but not 720s eh?

if in ten years at MK 2018 you are wheel chair bound, then we'll fix it up with some 48's and I'll take my turn pushing your round the track.

its  a tough one tbh.

not everyone has the same love of riding.

if its going to effect your income for yourself and any family you may have, its deffo serious stuff. however a roll around a few times a month can't be anymore dangerous than playing 5-a-sides with the boys from work or any other popular sports.

remember again, doctors are llike any other profession(plumbers/builders etc), there are good ones and bad ones. if the doc is a quack, he'll just be looking to give himself an easy answer to as why your hips are bothering you.

tell him to ram it.

the hip replacement is metal  the cup in my pelvis is metal  not the plastic ones oldies have.
the friction and what rubs of it on contact is getting into a row with my body.
its a bad fluid build up that will go bad soon and might fook me right up.
so a small op to get shot of that gooo will help then replace the metal cups to the oldies plastic version looks like the route.

work and stuffs always a worry but i just have no control over this body that keep falling to bits.

a tad gutted tbh but sh1te happens i suppose others worse of than me.
i will keep having a go when i can,i started stretching the tendons have well shrunk and doesnt much help .

I know where you're coming from Dan. Maybe not as serious but I need to have a 3rd disc replaced in my lower back now and while my Consultant is pretty cool (he's Dutch so he would be cool) I worry mainly about not working and not being able to play with my kids. I've not rode much of late for various reasons but I fully intend to ride more next year when my back is sorted. I get grief off the missus but she also understands that it's part of me, who I am so to speak. It's in my make-up!

However, I think if I was TOLD I couldn't ride anymore I'd be even more determined to prove them wrong, because I'm a stubborn fook like that! If I lost both my legs I'd still ride just to prove that they're talking bollox, even when I know in my own mind I'd just be kidding myself.

Does that make sense??  :-\

Daz.

Well if the opion was to become munners or keep riding I think it's a foregone conclusion in what I'd do. :LolLolLolLol:

I'd say keep riding Dan mate, know what your limitations are & just enjoy doing what you do :daumenhoch: I went out tonight to any empty car park with a flatlander & came home feeling a bit gutted I didn't do anything really but I suppose I was out on my BMX rather than sat in front of the tele ;) Just tell yourself it's good exercise :D

Good luck with it dude.
