Freewheel advice

I want to take off the freewheel and strip it down to clean and grease the bearings as there seems to be some crap inside well it is 24 yrs old any advice/tips do i need any special tools.

dont do it, just buy a new one . I wouldnt trust a freewheel that has been stripped and rebuilt.

Cheers guys just saved me a job

Drop it in some degreaser to get all the shite out of it then put some grease in a small tin and gently heat the tin on a stove, when the grease has liquified drop the freewheel in and after a few mins pop it out, clean it up and spin a few times and hey presto  .

Spot on that advice............i use petrol for degreasing..........but dinae smoke near it....

the 'Dicta click' is no worst than modern cassette noise?  as for Shimano freewheels?  weren't they renound for giving up after a short period of time?  Dicta ones are only about £6 from the RAD shop so you can't go wrong for that?

abd they are cheap so when ya wd40 one after racing to clean all the shit out and it fooks it you can just buy another one for fiver and replace it lol
