cheers Daz - I'm sure I'll need something down the road - a new tool kit for one - fixing up a bike w/ a monkeywrench and plyers really sucks  ;D

hey fella's - I'm having trouble getting this frame to shine - I pulled off a sticker and the chrome is great underneath...I bought some chrome cleaner / polish and have been rubbing hard, but can't seem to get the chrome as shinney as underneath the stickers. I don't think we have Autosol here in the US, anyone know another alternative polish? Looks like it needs an acid bath.

appreciate any input. I need my Mongoose to shine baby shine!

My first official build - some updates - Autosol and Fluted seat post arrived from Hong Kong, Ashtabula stem and John's goose pad (Gimp Mask) arrived, (Cheers John!) Got some red adondized V-Bars (not sure I want to keep them or get some Swhinn Scrambler box bars) Just won an old Mongoose seat post clamp, looks beat up but maybe autosol could save it. Need to get some new repo decals then onto a candy apple red Kuwahara KZ-1 w/ gold parts  :smitten:

Here she is so far....

here's the bike w/ box bars...

a fine pair...my plan was to buy the Team Goose and sell the other, but once it arrived, I realized that I'm in love with both of them..they both have different strengths and charm, I can't pick a fav.

They look nice snuggled up together there Damon mate  :LolLolLolLol:
So your keeping the other one - you do realise that you have now contracted mongoositis - there are a few others who suffer from it on here - i have it pretty bad !
It multiplies rapidly and there is no cure  :LolLolLolLol:

So what happened with the stem on the team dude ? Is it proper snidey ? Paint job on the frame looks sweet in the first pic, how is it in the flesh  :smitten:

yeah - I caught that one - there is just something about these old gooses that as someone else said, gets inside you and I was not a big fan bitd..stange stuff happens when you get one, it's all i think about. Yeah, the gold block stem is snidey, thick plate like you mentioned and snide gold paint, good from far but far from good, as they say, it will work for now. And that paint job is dodgy too. The forks are great, they have the proper translucent epoxy finish where it almost looks 3D as you can see the nickel deep inside the red...but, the frame was just spayed candy red by some kid in a garage, it can flake off w/ your finger nail, which really sucks...it really needs to be done properly. I was thinking about puting all the red forks and all the parts on my '81 frame. I hate scratched up frames. The rims cleaned up good, there is chrome on those spokes underneath the crud, I've been buffing w/ autosol and getting some great results.

I'm looking for a good painter in my area to re-do the frame epoxy red like the original ones.

great to ride though, very light.

Shame about the paint job bud  :'(
Take the forks with you to the local painter - they're usually good a matching up  ;)

Nice to hear your ridin around on them mate  :daumenhoch:

...........get some bloody decals for the other one  :LolLolLolLol:  :LolLolLolLol:

yeah - ebay can be tough when people don't share lots of pics...I guess that should have been a red flag...still, think I got a fair deal at $425 - even w/ the snidey stem - there's a real gold stem on the bay right now, but they usually sore high on price to like $80 right? Beautiful stem though....gosh, this habit is costly, I had more luck with crack.  8)

I know, I know, I kinda like the survivor look too though...the Tange Tx 1200 stickers still look good though. One of these days I'll fork up the $$$ to get some stickers from BMX Products, I was looking at their grips too for my Team Goose.

One of these days......I'm goning to cut you into little pieces (which band?)   hint   :bondage:

Yep ebay can be a bit of a gamble sometimes  >:(

I took a look at that gold stem on US ebay - looks fairly clean, already close to $80 and time - left i think that'll go quite high. There's another on US ebay as well with a stamped goose seat clamp in the auction with it. Current bid is a round $40 i think - both a little rusty and need some TLC but could go for a decent price maybe  :-\
