Doofus question about potts modding a front brake...
« on: November 07, 2008, 07:20 PM »
Evening all

Been doing some work on one of my bikes today, changing a normal front brake set up to a potts mod with using a fs880 front brake caliper. Haven't actually done this before - I ususally stick to a normal brake setup.

I have used a rear brake cable due to needing extra length ( ;)) and this is my snag. I can't get any tension in the brake caliper, I've cut the brake cable sleeve down a bit and whilst the brake pulls, it merely grazes the wheel rim as opposed to stopping it. Do I need to lose more cable sleeve to get more cable to create more tension?

Here's a piccie to give you an idea of what I'm on about (I'm changing the tyres BTW)...

Many thanks

 :)

has the cable got a kink or caught .  or is the caliper center nut been over tightened.
