Pro-Star project
« on: November 16, 2008, 12:06 AM »
From a thread somewhere else, a question was asked if there are any Pro-Star builds on the go.
Well, as it happens, there is.
I bought this from the bay, via a mate.
This bike was one that I always intended to buy, for sentimental reasons really, not saying its not a worthy project all the same.
Anyway, here is the first pic, as it came.

From the pic, it looks as though all is well, however, there is a bit of corrosion on the seat tube, and the bottom bracket area.
Saying that, it is only surface, and the rest of the frame is solid, and the rear drop outs look as though the rear wheel has never been off.
From this, I decided to have the frame stripped of its original chrome, and to remove the corrosion marks.
I will post some pics of the stripped frame, and more pics as the resto develops.

Thanks fellas.
This may take a bit longer now, as John (bobafett) is harassing me to have a Goose I have, done at the same time, and that one needs a bit more work !!
But, he challenged me to have them both done by chrimbo.
And I took the challenge. :uglystupid2:

Right then the pro-star project continues...................
Shaun (currio) is having trouble with his camera at the mo - so i'm posting some pics up for him.
It arrived as per the pic at the top of the thread and has now been dechromed and blasted and he's started the wet n dry process on the rear tiangle (you can see a bit of shine in the second pic). So a sh!t load more sanding and it'll be off to the chromers - i still reckon you've got your work cut out gettin her ready for chrimbo shaun  ::)  ;D

Thanks John, yep, there is a lot of work to be done on the prep.
I will be doing well to get either of the frames done before christmas, but I am not conceding just yet.
I will update the thread as I progress.
Shaun
