OK, these are poor quality, most are very embarrasing for me, but show my history
(appologies for big spaces, scanner went a bit wrong, and after spending 3 hours at it?)
first for Adenough, my dad too drove and allegro, got me round the country
for big kev 40. heres your sis and her husband, again and your mums in there if you look closely
and here is big kev 40 bitd
these are embarrasing, but where bmx started for me back in 82/83 TUFF BURNER FROM HALFORDS
did three races on that, then mum got me a goose cali, cos i couldnt do better than 3rd in the final, in an age group that was having quarters at the time
some pictures from folkestone,
folkestone presentation night 84 i think the Ruff presented and demo'd
various photos from Buckmore through a few years
not long after the Cali, realised i wanted to custom build, loved JMC's so got a shadow frame for xmas, you can see from this twas way to small for me
then i went onto a TA, as shown here, these pics were taken in Mark Andrews (RIP) drive one summer i spent there.
this was a poor bar press (for me) but only had about six metres to do it
few pics from hernebay, (everybodies favourite national track) for CRABTREE
see my gates used to be terrible, lucky for long power straights
Dave Williams (RIP) one of my favourite comentators bitd, nick named me Magic Magoo
me in Sheppey Cycles sponsored gear
guy in background lugging on a fag in blue jackey Ozzy who still owns sheppey cycles
then i went to ride for Renhams cycles (joined later by Jamie Staff (On right)
then went to MT Fox Factory Racing
my favourite doubles bitd, Wigan
went on to Scotland after that national to see my relatives
Birmingham Wheels Alan Woods?
Tim March
Superclass final, pro section being led by the Ruff
Wayne Llewellyn leading Dean Idiols and Andy Welsh (annoyin i could beat Dean every time, but always underperformed at nationals?
)
some of my favourite riders
last but not least, to prove i had to pay for all my own gear, nice new race wear, look at my vans with holes all in them (was still saving for a new pair).
like i said at the top, poor qual, not that interesting, but hope you found some enjoyment, even if only laughing at me when i was 12

I dunno, that gate picture from herne Bay i'm in lane 6 and about 5th place at the bottom of the hill, but know i was 1st by the end of the straight....should make tracks with power straights on nowadays, not so hard to fall off in a straight line
plenty of peeps to see in there though, Steve M, James M, Richard T and Dan w to name a few old friends
and the good old days of vale View school playground, where i learnt practically everything i know about bike handling

Neil.
I see nothing to laugh at, you won trophies and had a good time, made lots of friends and a lifetime of memories... As for the burner it did its job for you as it did for many BITD

Thanks, just funny laughing at my teenage appearance, who knows maybe i look funnier these days
Mike, wouldn't say i was a top rider bitd, tallented, but not top. And lucky to have been a bit bigger than most kids my age
(look at Big Kev40 stood next to me, he's two years older )
Loved my burner, but not enough to want another....as for everything else BMX gave me, would never knock it, built confidence etc etc, for a kid who formerly did not mix and was very shy and retiring. (Perhaps that was the problem with nationals, stage was too big, so prefered to fade into the background around people i did not know?) Need a physcologist

thats the last of 'em now, except the really poor ones, y'know, like where my mum's just got my front wheel coming into frame
I'll come and do presentations for yer, need to find a way of getting some extra dosh to pay to get my knee fixed privately, wife refused to let me do it, cos she thinks in a few months down the line i'll have another injury.....what does she know? (More than me probably)

No only UKBMXA, but i do remember your name, who knows could be from mags, or perhaps our paths crossed, as if no racing local used to make my Dad take me to the otherside of outer mongolia, even if only a club race, rather than have a sunday without a race, even used to be one of the hardcore Boxing day racers at Buckmore, and new years day races too, even though my old man is scottish, and had to come home from the pub to take me
what area did you live in bitd mate?

that could be it then, spent a week or two in Nottingham area with Big Kev40 and his dad one summer, can't remember where we raced, but came home with trophies. (kinda have some memories of racing in a dog stadium)? but getting old, maybe it was a dream.
I got out in '86 but started again last may, till i knackered my knee about 7 weeks ago

there we go then, sourthern lad raced there and took silverware, and some other track possibly Nottingham area, memory really bad on this one.... on top of a hill that overlooked a town? (narrows it down)just remember this really long field seemed like we had to walk for ages from car to track, kinda place you'd find a boot fair now?
