its like if you tighten the top nut too much the steering is to stiff and if you dont give it good un the headsets loose
doing my nut in

If ya bearings have fallen out of your bearing retainer then just stick em back in and bend the retaining strip a little so they dont fall out. Be careful not to bend the bearing retainer out of shape. You just want it to stop the bearings from falling out. They should still be loose!!

So long as the bearing retainer is still circular then you should have no problems.

Another easy mistake to make.

Bearings face towards the races not the Cups!!

Read this in full. Its a good guide for Installing/Removing and adjusting a 1" threaded headset!!

Too loose or too tight a headset will cause premature wear!!

Fit it, ride it and check it again. After a couple adjustments then they usually dont need adjusting ever again (if ya lucky)!!
