New Build - Auburn XL
« on: October 26, 2008, 08:14 PM »
The Auburn XL is finally done!!

Finished building Saturday night in time for racing at Lytham on the Sunday!!

Thanks to Nosepickben for the Bars, SE-BMXER for the Forks, Firebird for the Padset and MADD DOGG and Orgasmdonor for some GT bits and bobs!!  :daumenhoch:

Its a 1995 Auburn.  Its not exactly Old School but it has 1" Headset, Stem and Forks and has a Caliper mount (although I'm running a Pitbull).   Im using a GT 1" Pro Series Headset but the cups didn't fit (32.7mm) so I'm using the original cups instead (34mm).   I know its not exactly in the Old School spirit but I'm a crap rider anyway so it gave me no advantage!!

Ive ALWAYS loved Auburns... keep an eye out for Del's new Auburn build in progress - frame from me - he's had it painted and stickered and lok AWESOME. Im also in the process of building one...
As for the bits you need - Orgasm Donor is your man - you need GT Megabite tyres or Ritchey Megabie tyres on there - all GT made, same tyre, different names - perfect Auburn tyres.

I have a GT Seatpost and GT-6 Seat for it!!

I thought the cougar 300 would shave a few ounces off making me super quick for racing!!

It didn't work!!  :(

I think the extra few stone I'm carrying might be the problem!!!

I hosed it down when I got home (in the dark)!!

The pads will be fine!!

Its a rider not a show pony  (plus I'm too lazy to give it a good thorough cleaning)   :daumenhoch:

I was quite happy with this build.  It turned out great but I had quite few problems with this build.

Hopefully the Team Robbo will be an easier build!!  :daumenhoch:
