auburn question
« on: October 31, 2008, 10:38 AM »
how long was the auburn built   i have seen a few in the late 80s
and mainly in the 90s  but did they keep the rear end the same over the years.
i have one that i am restoring for someone but the rear end needs alot of work
so was going to try to hunt one down or even a complete frame and forks for him as this one is tatty.

I know that there's a Chromo back end and also an Alloy one (one I have is stamped 92)... I believe the alloy one is the later type but not 100% sure.

I think they were GT owned from 1988.   I can't find any Auburns in adverts after around 1998

All rear ends were chromo, then Aluminium ones came out then the chromo ones were phased out (I think)

1994 the BB height and geometry of the front triangle changed.

No mention of any changes to the Rear triangle so hopefully one rear end fits all!!  ???

These are the only catalougues I could find on the web (1995 and 1996).  They're shit quality too!!  :(

First pic ive seen was in bmx plus in i think 87 of a raw prototype.
Def steel rear end first.
Loved that design, been toying with picking one up.
