Tip Find
« on: January 20, 2006, 09:37 PM »
Found a Burner (i know, i know) at the local tip last week. Bonus was that it had Tuff II's on it. They are plastic hubbed, and I assumed that they were "new" ones.

There is a difference with these ones from the tip bike though, as next to the Skyway logo it says "Made in the UK", whereas my new ones just say US.

Does this mean anything? Are they older?  ???

Hey Dave,

Skyway did set up manufacturing over here in about 85/86 (in High Wycombe) to make the wheels cheaper here (i.e - no shipping costs) - not sure how many wheels were produced but I have seen a few so they are around.

It's a mkII Super Burner, main tubes cromo frame...someone had coated the back half of the frame with some thick silver paint over the top of the superchrome. It's now been stripped back to the chrome underneath, which had been protected pretty well with all the gunk on top.

There's one guy on the Burner forum who has already contacted me about it, but if he doesn't want it I'll let you know...(if I ever get the feckin' seat post out!)
