Mid School Old School Retro Rider
« on: October 14, 2008, 03:20 PM »
Wanted to share my progress with you guys of my "rider" build, now that it's stating to take shape.

I had a mid school Zippo complete, but neglected, sat in my garage and decided to bring it back to life - as a "Retro" Master 88. I'd seen this done before and always thought that they look good, so wanted to do my own :)

I'm using a good mixture of old and mid parts. My old parts consist of:

Black Haro Unidirectional Chainwheel
Tioga Disk - freshly chromed - bling bling ;)
Haro Kneesavers 88 - freshly chromed
Dominator Seat
Tech 77

Here's a before pic -

And now, complete with some of it's bits

Still need to acquire some more bits and pieces but the basis is all there.

What do you guys think so far, good, bad or ugly ???

Cheers dudes :daumenhoch:

I was going to leave this bike to one side and just purchase a 2009 Gen 1 Master (re-issue) for riding when they come out. But I decided against it and gave my zippo some love, and I'm happy so far on the way it's turned out.

I did this colour as I'm also building a 88.5 Haro Sport, wanted the black scheme for that, so got the Zippo done too. One colour for both bikes worked out cheaper than two colours so it made sense, with the added bonus I love these bikes in black - sorry I beat you to it.

There are loads of colour to chose from, and decals easily available for most.

Here's a picture of another Zippo "Retro" Master I found at the museum

To finish it i`m thinking blue grips and cables ?  and change that sprocket for a spyder and blue ring ? ...

Yeah I agree, they do look top in black. Your bike looks sweet as is but I think the changes you stated (blue grips, cables and chainring) will finish it off a treat :daumenhoch:
