Anybody is welcome anytime as its Nat' trust property and we have sort of got permission to use it. So yes NP

Its a long way to come just to dig. We always welcome help but if you are planning to visit just now and again, I dont think anyone would pressure you to do any shovel pushing.
The only rules to follow is keeping the place tidy, so no litter dropping. We are struggling to get some kids to understand the importance of that fact, but as you are a student im sure you are mature enough to understand

GLASS!!!! I am getting seriously pissed off

about the amount of broken glass that I am finding recently. I cut myself last night picking up a smashed larger bottle in the riding area. I think it was probably left by those lads with the air rifle I caught the other week. If you see anybody in the quarry with glass bottles have a word with them. If you find glass throw it down the BIG HOLE not into the bushes.

AQL rules

- NO GLASS BOTTLES IN THE QUARRY!

I been busy fixing cars for the last couple of days but managed to get up for a couple of hours today. Did a couple of hours diggin dirt out of the centre of the bowl to build up the DPP, should be finished with another session or two. Nige, Ste and some guys I've not seen before have given the SDP a revamp

and Ste's put in a new berm. Cliff side is dry, spiral side is damp and a bit soggy in places but mostly rideable, the leaves are starting to come out and the place is begining to green up.

Travelled up to Hartlepool while the roads were quiet and picked er up

Wheres the new berm, and hows the pond outside the spiral doing. Is it still holding water?

Its the one I think I sent you a link to. FMF 24", Aluminium, 24lbs, Redline flights, WTP 4 bearing euro bottom bracket, Oddysey shark bite pedals and a Hoffman dinky sprocket 34t down to a chrome dicta freewheel 14t with chrome chain.Its practically brand new, not a scratch. Even the tyres still have the knobbly bits on. I got it for a bargain and is worth the flight-cranks alone.... Im well chuffed.

I didnt want to swamp the thread with pics of it... but heres a couple anyway...while its still looking new and clean

Here's a photo from 1910, so that's 99 years ago.

The red splodge is about where the bottom of the riding area is now.
The yellow splodge is about where all the gorse bushes are.
The green splodge is where I think there was an entrance to a mine that runs under the centre line of the quarry.

That's it, just a little one to kick you to the right. Bike looks mint, not heard of FMF before but looks expensive (hell, what do I know). Just be careful if it's got aluminium bars, I've read they don't last long, a nice pair of Redline V bars is what you need, just like BITD

What's Dan think of it?

Joined the team for a few hours digging today. Thats all you can do at the mo as the trails are pretty wet to ride. Forgot to take pics

that bike looks brand new tommy you,ll have to rough it up asap, sweet old school cranks man.just been up to check out the new line ,looks great can,t wait to try it.it was great to have new diggers up on saturday ste,s bro is a quality rider as are the others,good to see chris from the village up he knows the score he put in some spade work before riding.thats respect fooking hate it when the likes of foghorn comes up and just expects to ride and not do anything shuffle munsterer.see you saturday AQL.

trail ridin on an fmf cruiser aint a very good idea

forks are soft and the frames like crackin,,top that with alloy bars

have fun but becarefull,,its a jungle out there

Do you get much warning with aluminium or does it just go PING? What F&F would you recommend?
