The run up feel good on my 26, might need a few bump removals, and the ramp are not as high as I envisaged by that can all be solved. It should be possible to transfer from the lifter to mDP1 

I did have to do a little enforcement, are tasers legal in the UK

Got rained off at dinner time, so walked the dog up the quarry. Found a spade near the spiral ( very dangerous leaving spades lying about, in the wrong hands they could do alot of damage  ). Anyway as it wasnt raining at Ayton I decided to do a bit around the spiral, digging it back and trying to get it less tight at the final turn...

Cleared the low dirt near the old TT exit, making Pauls reverse run cleaner


Dug the back, back about a foot to try and get it more rounded...


Tided up the exit and dug back abit to try and make the curve more smoother rather than a jolt...




The rain finally came  so it was time to head home. Removed the carpet off the DP before I went ...

i think the run up should come down where the run down is for the death pack ,then your staight and just have to make the end of the berm into a roller and save on a mega amount of work.and we need stuff finished then we can just maintain while it,s the drier months(hopefully) thats just my view .THOSE twatS WHAT fookING FOR THE LITTER.i go to the trails to chill out not to be a bastard babysitter for scum.AQL

Dunno what you are on about . Do you mean use the DP run-up to enter the spiral. If you do then that looses the idea of the spiral and would just turn it into a berm. Or are you on about the run-up for the Primer. If you do then I think the line Paul has made is spot on as I had a run down it on his mountain bike and its dead inline for it to run into the last 2 of the SODP

Im just as pissed off as you with the litter... They do f' all and are nothing more than Quarry rapists. Dont mind people riding, but when it turns to abuse then that pisses me off. not just the quarry but I cant stand seeing litter anywhere... If it continues then I think we should just take a spade and put it through the jumps they are doing so they get the message.

I cleared the path down by the tree a few weeks ago and just gave it a try on Sunday and was really surprised at how good it was, all I've done is spend about ten mins filling some holes in at the bottom. Think it will be ok without needing lots of work. I don't have any plans to build anything big. The mini DP is running well but I'm sure it could be fine tuned and the fourth set is the one that needs looking at IMO. Once DPP is finished Im gonna concentrate on smaller stuff and getting The unused berms into action.

On the litter front I think most of the kids have got the message but some shock tactics could be useful in getting them to put pressure on the kids who are not in compliance with the law.

I know what you're saying and maybe we could have both  , like I said the runup was kinda just there, ready to roll 

We've had a nice bit of rain today, lets hope it penetrated the ground and hasn't washed the surface away  Will be trying to get some diggin done before it drys out again, but not tomorrow, I'm busy

Yep - can't do this weekend at all.  It's wont be the last time I'm up though so I'll make sure I let you know.

Re the Burnham weekend - I may be up both weekends depending on how long the wife is up with the kids.  Not sure yet.

I had a quick look up tonight to see what state the place was in after the rain. Spotted your new water hole Keith, full to the brim and the swamp is full also. Might be a bit soggy in places for a few days so would leave any riding till the weekend. I am going to let the slop dry up a bit before digging as I don't want to chew the ground up.

Probably Saturday for my next dig, if I've got my car brakes sorted out by then otherwise I'll be doing that.

Had a walk up at tea-time. After all that rain its drying up very quickly, esp' down the bottom. Its damper up the top (good for digging) with a few puddles here and there. The swamp is full to busting, also inside the large DP berm. I covered the DP up again now they have had a good soaking so the carpet should hold some moisture in.

I also tried a little experiment reguarding the need for water. Outside the spiral where the drain runs out I dug down and dammed it up where it runs away...





It held the water very well. I was thinking, Dig it a little wider, a bit longer and a foot or two deeper. Maybe put in a plastic liner. Cover in logs (there must be 100s in the woods and cover them with turf or dirt, leaving a small hole to drop in a container to lift out the water. finishing off with a lid (any peice of wood). A bit like a well I suppose but been covered should stop it evaporating.

Good idea if you know where there is some. I suppose the logs would rot in time, but I was thinking of "BIG THICK" logs. I also had in mind ... when the logs/ iron is in place then you can build ontop of it doing the same job. I agree though, the berms do need to be a bit higher.

Hi, I'm new here, you guys seem like the locals for the trails in Ayton and was wondering whether it'd be possible to ride them at some point as I'm at Durham uni and it seems like a pretty good spot!
I'd be up for helping to dig and stuff also, just quite desperate to get back into trail riding as haven't heard of too many places to ride up here.
