Pics from todays work (mainly from Paul :daumenhoch:)

Entrance to the spiral to run it clock-wise is slowly coming along...

The reasons its slow going is every barrow load has to be moved to the new DP primer...

was looking with ste last night instead of back breaking yoursel bringing the dirt from up there i,m gonna take out the big roller before the 8 pack it,s not been used and theres loads of dirt to be had right under our noses.i think the landing in the middle of the spiral can come out it,s a mountain bike jump and leads to nowhere, that would make a good water hole aswell.also the pile of dirt which was gonna be used as a fun box,why not use that dirt it also leads  to nowt we could make the little table next to that and make that bgger into a fun box. we need a water hole the 8 pack isn,t finished lets finish stuff, put all our energy into getting jumps finished before starting more at least then we have stuff to ride and not a load of stuff that we can,t do nowt with cause it,s to dry and unfinished,i,ll be up from around 12 till 5.30 ish today see ya all later AQL

Some good ideas there :daumenhoch:. The only dought I would have is this desperate attempt at a water hole. We all know that in the summer the place drys quick, even the swamp water-hole is now dry >:(. The way I see it, if you want water, then theres nothing more we can do than take it up there :-\. The dirt in the middle of the spiral, me and Paul were looking at it yesterday and were thinking of turning it around into a launcher to land on the Table-top with a run-up coming from under the tree where we hang our bags/coats. Then building a trail down the left-hand-side of the DP (which is a future project, like you say get stuff finished). One thing that should be done is a trail for the your jack etc. Id like to finish the trail using the spiral, heading over to the berm (that I started to repair, before I snaped another spade ::) ), then something coming out of it and heading somewhere.
Ill try and get up today, if I do it will be in the afternoon sometime.

don't wanna offend anyone but lets not swamp the death pack with anymore stuff around it it's bad enough already... there's loads of room in the quarry to buid stuff lets keep that side tidy.. it's startin to look a bit of a mess i reckon..... i think we need to dig that water hole for sure ... it might not work perfectly but its supplied us with the water we need these past couple a weeks. its gotta be worth a try we've tried plenty of times to take water up ther and its a total nightmare!

NP :daumenhoch:. I was sorta thinking the same thing myself. Reguarding the water, I still think the swamp will dry (its already dry as a bone). But how about going into the woods (somewhere off-track and out the way in the trees) finding a damp sheltered spot and trying there?

Regarding the last set of comments on building plans, this is why we need to all discuss this together up there so we can sort the good ideas from the bad ones and decide what's worth doing and in what order. If we all just go off on our own tangents then our plans will conflict and stuff won't work out well.

I'll be up there this afternoon once the effects of last nights curry have worn off but not digging today coz my back is wreaked. If anyone wants the barrow let me know.

How you feeling today mike? I heard your still suffering from your off.

There used to be a pipe coming out of the hillside that used to fill a water tank. This tank was used to supply the steam engines that worked the mines so it must have been a good supply. Lets take a look for it this afternoon.

i know i wont be back for a while so my opinion isn't necessarily valid, but get the sopd looking tidy enough to look as if it deserves its spot next to the death pack. smooth and shape i reckon.

I could have used dirt from closer by but I want to get the spiral reverse working so I needed to move the dirt anyway and I'm partly doing it to keep fit so don't mind the exertion involved. I think we have agreement that the pile in the middle of the spiral can be removed and a water hole dug, anyone not happy with that or is it a goer?

The pile of dirt next to the swamp is free to be used, I needed to dump soil from the reverse spiral run in and it made sense to get it close to where it would be usefull. I think the idea of making the existing table into a fun box could be a winner.

I'd also like to leave the left hand side of the DP alone, other than tiding up some of the rough bits, and move our focus to other areas.

I also don't think anyone will be offended by what you say Mike as you're one of the most respected members of the AQL  :daumenhoch: and we all value your opinion.

I did mention about 20 pages ago that maybe a trail on the left side of the DP was to much in that area, so thats all agreed then :daumenhoch:)

Now that thats sorted, theres dirt available from the center of the spiral, the Table-top and the berm after the table top. if this is shifted and used else-where (maybe on the SODB alterations or swamp area) then that would leave a clean tidy line down the left hand side and a safe run-off for attempts at the DP that goes wrong.

I'm happy with that. What do people think about making the small table top into a funbox? I've seen enough kids overjump it and land on their heads that I'd be happy to build over it.

I would like a trail with rolers so I can learn to manual and some small whoops and tables that the less able riders can have fun on. It should be away from the big stuff so as not to interfere with it.

Sounds good to me. I dont have a problem with what anybody builds. :daumenhoch:

One thing I would like to see is a quarter-pipe somewhere.

We will get there one day................ :uglystupid2:

 >:( TROUBLE IN'T QUARRY  >:(

Was up wi Tommy today looking at jumps when five 15/16 yo lads turned up wi two suspension MTBs (nicked I would say, one had bright yellow rims). We watched em try to kill themselves for about five mins then headed into woods with dogs and straight away found to blokes starting a fire, probably the same ones that have been there before and left a right mess so I got onto Police and they said best to call fire brigade out which I did. When I headed back through the quarry to meet the firemen I caught the five little twats shooting glass bottles in the ridin area with and airgun  >:(. I told them to pack it in but didn't have time to deal with them properly  :tickedoff: because of the fire situation and when I got back to them them where leggin it. I got a feeling they might be behind all the smashed green bottles that I've been finding and the mess that Me and Tommy found about two weeks ago.

Thats class :). Never seen some of those tricks before, not even at X-games. or on the extreme channel. At 44 it looks like a flare, then lands on hid front wheel... Awesome :daumenhoch:
The bit at 15 secs where he roles backwards then flips... is that a front flip or a back flip :P

John Burdons.... ;D. If only we were into digging then, that was a cushty place. I think I was about 10 when I flew into there, off the road and me front wheel flew out and I did a beauty face-plant.
