Class video.

Who is the youth on the white bmx?

I'm sat back at home now after a weekend oop North and after seeing that video I'm desperate to get back.

I think I'll see how far I get with the sopd next time I'm up.  :D :D :D

That Sir, is our rider of the week, Josh Bodsa  :daumenhoch: Believe it or not he'd only jumped the SODP for the first time about half an hour before I took the video, the boys got talent. Our runner up rider of the week is Nige who gets a big round of applause for jumping SODP part 1  :4_17_5:

Did you do part 2 as well Nige? I can't remember  :-\ But great stuff, you done us OS boys proud.

Aye lad it's grand oop ere. I'm glad to say the SODP has already been a great success and worth all the hard work. Might give it a few tweaks to make it more beginner friendly, it's already becoming a right of passage to sort the men from the boys.

P.S. Dex, if you come up regular enough you might even be invited to get the 'mark'  ;)

Thought it was Josh - props to him - he looks sweet as.  I just wish he'd shut up  ;D ;D ;D

Can't wait to get back now - going to try to get some of sodp done for sure.

I feel I owe you all some spade work as well.

May or June I think - I'll be back.

Hey up

Gonna try and have a bimble up this Sat if I can, we have the NEBMX AGM at 12.30 so I will try and head up after that.

Had the first ride of the trails here in Manc at the weekend (+ BBQ).  Managed to chain them up at long last too, should stop the kids coming down and casing the crap outa the landings!

Check it :

Good stuff Eddy, thats quite a slope you got yourself there and I like your twisty run in. Am looking forward to a video or two. I'll make every effort to be up there on Saturday afternoon, I got more jumps planned in my head, no rest for the radical eh!

Is that grassy area further up the hill available to you?

I might buy a new spade but its gotta be strong to survive the quarry. What brand and model do you guys recommend?

I doute you will find a spade that can put in 30+ years of graft like the ones you have from the good old days where things were built to last.
None of my business what you get but if it was me i'd buy a new shaft for the old-un... :daumenhoch:

Great pics Eddy :daumenhoch:

If you do come up on Sat, I wouldnt rush and try and plan it to get there 3 or 4 ish to ride till dark when its calmed down abit cos with it been the end of the easter hols it might be chocker, but they usually dwindle away by tea-time.

Dunno why, but I get as much enjoyment looking at jumps as I do people jumping em. Looking forward to hearing Pauls ideas as Im running a blank at the mo...  ???

like the idea of the chains as well... very :police:. It would be a shock to some of the litter droppers if they travelled all the way from Boro to find the Quarry jumps chained up >:D

PS congrats in hitting page 50 on the thread... :daumenhoch:

It would be good to get an express train vid with the DP and SODP running. It could be fist-i-cuffs heading into the berm though

On the spade front we use Wilkinson Sword ones from B&Q, they are kinda dark grey and of one piece steel construction.  They cost a fair bit but come with a 10 year waranty so it is essentially a spade for life.  See the guy in my first pic with the grey top on, thats what they are

We can use the grassy bit further up the hill but it is well steep there, on the plus point I think we may have fixed a few of the issues with the gradient, the lines seem to be working a lot better this year.

Hey Maccaz,

Thats the lander for the DP Primer jump, slightly smaller than DP1 so people can build the skills ready for DP. I also have a vision of a 25-30 ft jump, code name "swamp thing"  :daumenhoch:

Might get up for a mooch about PM but not diggin two in a row. Good night.

Are you building just the 1 double or another set?

Are you building just the 1 double or another set?

After the DP Primer you will be able to follow on into the last two sets of the 8 pack. With regard to a swamp jump we will need to consult Mike and Ste about the feasibility of a 25ft+ jump as it's unknown territory for us. I have a plan to free a large amount of earth from Spiral corner. In addition to reversing the direction of travel around the spiral berm and exiting around the tree, it would have impact on the what exists there now so we'll talk about it. I can imagine comming down the road to the left of the old start hill into a 180* berm which could be built from the unused table top, this would have the same diameter as the berm near the mine collapse and connect directly into the berm that you built and might give us some interesting options. Also a jump across the top of the old start hill linking to the berm into the big hip.

Will everyone interested in discussing these ideas be able to make it on Saturday afternoon? That would be a good time to plan as Eddy will also be there and might have some good insights and advice.

Ill try and get there sat, but might not have much energy for building (saying that I always have a bit tucked away somewhere as usual :P). Theres also the pile of dirt in the middle of the berm I built that could be used for something (never been happy with that and it gives me the shivers when some of the kids jump it). Mentioning that berm I built, it could do with some TLC as it is a good berm that never gets used much, it could do with surfaceing, and as you say...something leading into and out of it.
