Today's larkin about produced a few laughs and a few spills. The Spiral of Doom has been shortened and a deadly new feature "Dooms Drop" is in place. Gonna put a reverse route through the spiral which will free up tons of building material

Like Paul said, we shortened the spiral so its 360* rather than 450*.

The old route round is behind the spade. The new route cuts through and out between the DeathPack...

Been thinking... the new spiral line, heading out on right of the sodp's lander
...
(filling it in a bit between the wheelbarrow and the lass), into the berm I did a while ago, then maybe a TT coming out or a few sets of small doubles, backwards around the berm on the back of The DP2 lander and finish on the old spiral TT is the perfect trail for the young-uns like Jack. They havent really got a trail, just a few jumps here and there. even the not-so-young-uns could ride it

Had a walk throught the quarry this morning with the dog. All a bit sticky and muddy, but looking good.
There was a National Trust geezer doing the rounds too. He did not look very approachable, so said nothing to him, but there was not any obvious litter about, so thats good.

Aye I have been doing a bit of digging here in sunny Manchester, I am still at war with a gradient but am coming up with increasingly more inovative solutions.  Its all getting a bit serious though, I considered robbing a level from work to survey the hill and find the flatest bit.  Will be siving the dirt soon if am not carefull!  Have nearly finished fixing up most of the main line and am gonna start a new bigger line as soon as I have dug the hill flat.  We even managed a ride last week when the weather behaved itself, was a laugh

Been riding down me mates gaff in Bedford, there are some sandy trails there at a place called Woburn which ride all year, good day

Might have been Mark that I saw last year, he was all very serious. I wonder if he had found out about the fire in the woods and had come to take a look. It might not help that Sunday nights uninvited campers had left fire evidence in the quarry, he might jump to conclusions and blame us lot.

It's a tricky job getting the best from your dirt and terrain, we are trying to link our corners together with the lie of the land and some new jumps and it's not obvious which way to go sometimes. I haven't seen anyone sieving dirt up here yet but there is a smooth surface fetish developing so you never know. What's the main purpose of the sheets on the jumps? does it help the soft surface retain it's form?

Our trails are made out of clay, as they start getting higher and steeper the rain washed the lips off.  We been at war with the rain just trying to stop the backs falling down so I am going to try the sheet option.  Am on with the new line but its tricky, I need to guestimate the right size of a step up hip jump which we are going to use to kill speed, watch this space!

Got a couple of hours in this evening before the rain came...

Filled in the lander on "DOOMS DROP" in abit because the TT was coming at you far to quick. Hopfully this will ease the problem...




Built a sort of mini-berm coming out of the new spiral exit taking you over to the berm in the background for the junior riders and Paul...






Charlie landing a back-flip, frontflip, tail-whip, superman, running the DP backwards.... NO PROBLEM...

We measured the DP at about 20ft per jump so how high does that make Nick in this shot?

It was strange weather today, really energy sapping. I feel like we urgently need to get that dirt shifted from the top corner so as to get the reverse run around the spiral and behind the tree and some more jumps built. Might just attack it with the pick axe at the weekend and try and put a dent in it.

To be honist, for Nick thats low, haha.  Nick always seems to got about 4 foot higher than anyone else.

on the national trust bloke ,he would have been told by the coppers it was us that was helping catch the scum so i wouldn,t worry on that score. found tonite why mike and ste say that a water supply is vital, started to sooth and finish the last 8 pack landing just as i started there was a small shower god how much better can you get it with some water on the jump ,smoother than matty,s bollocks sweet.

I came down through the quarry about half five looking for the lads with tents, no sign of them. Met two riders i'd not seen before. Was that you Dex? Did you enjoy yourself up the quarry? Must make a point of introducing myself to strangers from now on.

On the camper front, in reflection it looked like 4 lads with an older bloke (possibly their dad) with a load of camping gear, i saw em near the railway bridge so they could have pitched anywhere. just thought id give it a mention considering the absolute state of the quarry the other day.
