 :) hey guys

2 builds starting soon so some advice needed last time i done this was 20 years ago

my sons is a redline 600a but wont know for sure if it defo is untill it arrives its stickered up that way though
also mine is a gorgeous supergoose  1981

any way

whats the rules with rebuilding old skool ?
has every thing got to fit in with the year or is it still cool to do what you want

there are no rules mate.........some people like to build em the exact way they were in the adverts, some like to build em how they had BITD? others just go for a colour scheme they like and go for bits they can afford??

go for whatever you like and ride em  :daumenhoch:

Depends on what you want to achieve mate, Goose 81 parts should not be hard to source. Blue n chrome are great colours for geese imho

But there aint really a right or wrong way on your own bikes just no snake posts  :LolLolLolLol:.

Myself try to keep my bikes area correct but on some i have not.

yeh the goose has well nice chrome so i will stick with that  :smitten:
plans are

black mags with all black tyres
gold and black shiney bits

the redline is balls all out ;D
plans are

frame powder coat white
white mags
red tyres
white bars
red shineys
red seat
if i can afford it a redline crank

its a xmas present for my son luke 8)

i wanna show him some stuff hopfully   :2funny:

if anyone has any redline parts 4 sale pm me please!

My first build had the parts that i always wanted when i was a lad and couldnt afford.

Got the real parts instead of copies

When I get a decent connection (feckin 3G card is bobbins :2gunsfiring_v1:) I'll post up what your bike is gonna look like then, as I built one just like that for a member on here with black Tuffs, tyres and bits, and a spot of gold here and there....... just ignore the blue saddle, it was obviously sold with a black one on it :2funny:



Word of warning with the Redline build fella - white frame and white wheels is a nightmare as you can never match the colours and the wheels always look grubby, even if they're new. Much better to go white frame and blue or black or red in my experience.

Finally, I totally agree with adeshere that it's great to build a bike that has the parts you wanted as a kid but couldn't afford. Even my US Supergoose 3 has original DC Tech 3's and MX1000's on it rather than the crap copy Lee-Chi ones that were stock. If you can't stretch to that kind of money, use a brand new set of DC901's - they look fantstic and you can find all kinds of colours on here from Jai and co to sweeten up the bike for sensible money.

Sorry, I didn't mean to lecture by the way, just I've made the white and white mistake and built to the brochure before, and regretted it :angrysoapbox:

 :)dood thanks for the advice do white ones look grubby do they hmmmmm bummer he had his heart set on them
there are some red areos for sale i wonder if he will have them ???

shit weve already  bought the red tyres too lol


i use to have the mx 1000  but must admit the dia comp 901s look the same for not much money

i want a full set in red and another in gold if any one has them

get that pic up dood  :coolsmiley: there is one on vintage but i cant copy the pic :(

Here's another one I found



Try Jai or Jay (SE-BMXer I think?) for the DC901's but I think you'll struggle for gold to be honest. Red should be ok though. Maybe put a set of chrome ones or black ones on the Motomag?

As for the white on white, brand spankers look ok, but the first bit of dirt and they look REALLY dirty. Here's a DP Firebird with white on white, and the camera made it look a lot better than it actually was, trust me.



At the end of the day it's all personal choice, but some of this NOS stuff costs an arm and a leg, and I always prefered to build with survivor kit so I wouldn't worry about scratching it when I rode it....... appart from this Goose where I had to sell it before I dared to ride it and it was all NOS. Gutted, it was a stunner....... :smitten:

at the end of the day it's your bike, build it how YOU want...,


show bikes usually tend to be parts circ max 2 years within the year of the frameset (ie: 82 Frame, all parts 80-84), some peeps are more particular


build it for yourself and be happy with it  :)

I know Paul - I should have hung it on the wall but I promised the wife I'd sell some of my bikes as I had 13 at one stage.....

Gutted. I got my bonus the other day, so the £500 I got for the white Goose was a long time ago and I shouldn't have flogged it :uglystupid2:

Mind you, I do have a few other little projects on the go - I've just sent you a PM mate :daumenhoch:

i see what you mean about the tuffs in white ,its not worth it if you wanna ride it alot :(


looking at your old goose white brakes look gd also ,im thinking if changing to red wheels the brakes dont wont to be red also  ;)

IMO better to restore MX1000 or 900's than buy 901's . Also you can source the brake arms seperately from the spindles/bolts etc .

Don't rush it , think it over & enjoy the build process . The sourcing/finding of parts is half the fun .

There's always rushed builds on here & it shows ( kind of "that'll do" mentality ) .

only got so much money to play with , eg : doing 2 bikes at the same time

evreything apart from the frames is nos 8)
