Handlebar stem crushing repair
« on: October 09, 2008, 06:15 PM »
Got these bars that had been sprayed white, they r chrome underneath. They came on the MRD I got recently and r nice bars other than this   ::)

So decided was going 2 rescue them 4 a new build  ;) First off I braced the bars with a piece of steel across the back tack welded on. This prevents any springing that may occur that would cause alignment problems later on. Then measured up and cut out the affected area. Cut a nice new piece of tube to suit gap , this is a little difficult as ends r not circular due to the bends at the base of the bars. Bit of manipulating of the tubes 2 make oval  ::) Then preped and welded in. Much grinding ,filing, and sanding later hey presto.

All I need now they r ready 2 go 4 rechrome is them identifying  :LolLolLolLol:

I think they may b Tuf Neck but can't find any 2 compare them with .
