apple key is the one with the clover on, next to alt, shift is the up arrow on the left hand side

the desktop,  hit F11 and it will hide all the apps and show the desktop

Great article.  James Cassimus is an awesome action photographer.  He shot a lot of stuff in Skateboarder magazine.  Here's an early Haro interview from 1982 along with a couple others:
