Well just to mix things up a bit, I paid £140 including post from the U S of A for just this frame without forks or stickers, but it's a 1978 Team, and it's mint. Oh, and I wanted it >:D The forks are nickel plated era correct and cost a bloody fortune, but my brother has a set without the brake hole in them which were stock on the top of the range Team, so I'm still looking for a set :2funny:

Surely the nickel plated ones are Teams and the chrome ones Supergooses from late '79 onwards?

By the way, I'd rather sell my house than this......... I even rode it like I stole it round the track at MK this year too  :daumenhoch:

Spen

Here's mine - I went custom build how you'd have had it back in the day if you had the cash :smitten: :smitten:

....and here's it's younger cousin, my brother's 1980 Team (check the forks :knuppel2:)

Still limping......

Yeah, the really early ones just give the image of a load of old bits of box-section, tubes and punched plate being welded together in a barn somewhere :smitten: :smitten:

Yeah you can't beat a good goose  :daumenhoch:
They're the only bikes I build  :smitten:

I wouldn't buy tange tx forks for that super though dix - hold out for some chrome team forks they'll suit your frame right down to the ground. They do come up fairly often - probably cheaper in the US but then you've got the shipping cost lottery so it's hard to tell. Seen ones that need replating go for around 30 quid but for nice ones your probably looking at 50 maybe more - depends who's bidding. You could always go with the tange pinched forks off the standard mongoose from the late 70's early eighties - they did come in chrome as well as nickel and not as sought after as the team ones so you could pick them up cheaper. Good luck...............

it'll be a standard US bottom bracket

as for the year
yours is a mark one goose from the rear drops and i think i can see the flatten seat stay on the drive side
which means 76 - 81 ish so should have  T stamp serial
but may have a mk2 type serial like E10003

from what you've said its 80 / 81 so right on that change point to the mk2

at the design changes points mongoose seemed to blend the designs
i guess cos they brought material in bulk ready to fabricated
so theres all sorts of odd querks

im sorry boys i havent got the frame yet but i do have a pic

sounds like we all were watching this one  :LolLolLolLol:,i asked the chap for the complete frame number 1st and he told me it was "E111039 Thx, Jim"so by rights should be a june 81 ,which was what the advert said :-\ ,didn't say there was any other letters before the number eg"T" just these numbers  :-\ ,so i didn,t bother bidding,
it does has the flattened rear chain stay so should be a super but it has'nt got the "T" unless he just didn't tell me  :-\,this number is more like my 82/3 super but with the older drop outs with no holes, :-\  :-\

May 81 model - same as mine !

so theres likely to be all sorts of combos of serial types
dropouts and features in this era

sure Waza on vintage mongoose could pin down a more definative timeline of changes
ie serial style changed before the drop out style etc
cheers Kev

Depends on the postage you paid for - can take between a week and four weeks unfortnately, then there's the import duty lottery to worry about.......

Tragically I was bitten by the 'goose a long time ago, but have sold quite a lot now and am down to my 1978 Team and my 1983 Supergoose 3 and Minigoose. All are US models and have been imported and lovingly restored though :smitten:

Here's what it got to at the worst of it - my brother still has plenty of old 'geese he's thinking of selling, but here they all are in their glory >:D

And here's a few 80's ones....

Cheers guys, I enjoyed building them and riding them about at MK this year :smitten:

The white 1987 Californian was stunning, built from a totally NOS f&f imported from the States. Paul (Harorider) bought it after I put it up for BoTM earlier this year. The red skyways & running gear on the nickel Motomag sold and Matt (Bensherman) is now the lucky owner of the f&f as it's a 1979. I forget who bought the rest of them, but the bright yellow one took the longest to sell, and I had to drop it up to Glasgow when I was working there - again, a totally restored f&f. It's been tough trying to decide which ones to keep and which ones to sell, but I have kept the bikes I always wanted, ie the '78 Team and the '83 Supergoose 3. The minigoose is just going to be moth-balled until my baby daughter is old enough to ride it :2funny:

If you check my posts the candy-blue Supergoose and a few others are still available as they are my brother's. The three below I think from memory, but I'd have to check.

Keep collecting fellas and I've no doubt I'll end up with another 'goose before long as I haven't got any winter projects booked in yet >:D
