My first crash! Stoked!
« on: September 28, 2008, 05:02 AM »
Third week in I got about 7 and hung up my back wheel. I'm so fat I went over the bars and got scraped up but lived.  It was AMAZING! I needed that shite. Going to a foam pit on Monday  ;). Lost some weight too. Didn't expect that so soon!

Lulz....nice pics  ;D. Most look like alley-oops but I dunno. I never really came into my own 'til I built the backyard monstrosity. Still trying to track down footage.

Edit: Actually, you know what's funny? Look at the "in progress" pic on Myspace...The initial 12 ft wide section was half paid for by the parentals. Everything else you see was "borrowed" from construction sites. 2k$ paid for 6 feet wide and 10 ft high. The rest was courtesy of my good friends and my truck  :LolLolLolLol:. I'm inclined to do it again but they all use particle board now instead of straight plywood  >:( . Still, skeleton ribs are fair game! >:D

Oh yeah - riding hard makes a difference. Since I got back riding after my knee op. I 've been building up my time and trick rate down the skatepark. Combine that with full time construction job and I've built muscle and lost fat to the tune of around a stone.... (6 1/2 kilos Greg!)

Oh my. A Reynolds/Guillotte reunion? I got a whiff of Alfreton Leisure Centre just then, I can almost hear Gary Neal's mum telling me about missing the ferry to France...
Why am I in this rainy West European slum district when the action's over the Atlantic Ocean?

I was talking to a friend last week who was at southsea once when Greg Guillotte was riding. He said that Gregs bike had no pedal cages, just the spindles. You know, so when you pedal your foot rolls off! I guess he didnt need to pedal much on the big vert ramp there, but you'd think you'd need pedal cages to help keep your feet on!

Dave, I think I've a pic of Greg on the same run taken from the top of the ramp. Let me try & find it, I'll scan it in tonight.

(Later that evening)
And here it is! Except he seems to be wearing a red shirt now, so it wasn't the same run. According to what I wrote on the back of the photo, it was taken in December '88.

Yep, it's your good self. You sowed a few seeds of doubt but the bike seems to be the same except for the rear tyre, and the jeans look like a good match.
If anyone has any theories about who else it could be, I'm all ears.

I don't know how to multi quote either!

1 stone = 14 lbs
1 lb = 0.454 kilos
1 kilo = 2.205 lbs

Look at a conversion table man!!!   :LolLolLolLol:

I remember wondering about your bike, too. Not so much how you could still ride it as the back wheel was sort of 'S' shaped and the seatpost was almost free of the platform plate, but that the platform area itself was chrome. All the sports I'd seen at the time were painted up to the seatstays. Was the paint taken off so that it could be rewelded?
At that comp, I'm sure something finally gave up for good, and you were using someone else's ride for a while. If it was the back wheel or tyre, that might explain the difference in pics, you could've been using someone's spare.

Well, since I posted it, I should know Lee!

It's from the UKBFA Champ of Champs comp, from Alfreton, as featured in the Feb 1989 edition of Freestyle magazine...
