I know, its been mentioned before, kids looked up to me, i was whiter than white, and tried to send out good messages to the younger ones. Didn't start till i was 20 after my first divorce......women eh? lot to answer for

Those are fab pics. Loads of memories there. You must have raced against Tim Belcher. He was a year younger than me and carried on after I stopped racing. He was a bit good. Won a few races.

I know where i finished that day and remember every body complaining that the regional should have been cancelled cos the wind was so strong, in fact i thinkg i was cos the wind was behind me that i managed to jump the doubles.
In fact if the results made it into Bi-weekly, and if you got top three then i'll bet i'll have either the mag or clipping in the loft.

Actually i think i only raced there twice and i've just looked at my trophies and i have 2 from adur a 2nd place and a 3rd

ok, i'll try to remeber to stick my head through the hatch tomorrow afternoon, have clips in the back of photo album, but if full mag, no luck, burried right at the back of the loft, under all the baby equiptment, and kids keepsakes.

Adur results are from most of my Adur pictures, so thats the day you were there too.



some interesting results in there though.
Herne bay Flyers first meeting, Pete Middleton beating The Ruffel, and Wayne Llewellyn riding out of age group.
Other Herne bay one, 13 years 1. Grnt Newell, is me, sent my dad to register me, and he is really old school army, surname first and all that, and he has an extremely strong Scottish accent, (hence why i don't spend too much on bikes ).

Folkestone Flyers, 16+ Barry Smissen beating Pete Middleton, remember that, think that was one of Barrys last races, it was Barry and his best mate Brian Emsley that gave me my nickname!!!

don't know why, but for whatever reason thats all i cut out bitd, think i was across a double page, and didn't want to ruin the mag too much, or maybe had something good on the reverse side of it?

Gutted  wanted to see who finished in front off/behind me  it was adur aces where my dad first came to a meeting and when he saw how serious i was he bought me a second hand redline frame an forks that someone was selling on a stall there  remember him asking me if my bike i was on that day was a good one(old puch trak pro f/f) i said no and that i could do much better with a newer decent f/f so he got me it  god bless him

Ah, thats making a bit more sense, i see right in the background on the first straight, i was looking at the little geezer by the berm in the white and blue aero trousers, thinking, he's deffo younger than me, but thought you were older than me.

Sorry can't help with rest of results, cos only mags i kept in loft either had photos of me in or nothing cut out.

yeah, i'm sure, hate to admit it, i stayed clean from the female of the species till i was 16, then gave up BMX if only i'd known then what i know now, would never have bothered, might have made a few quid outta superclass instead
