Tightening up without fooking up
« on: September 08, 2008, 12:05 PM »
Ok gonna do this charity ride on my new Hutch Pro Racer but its really minty actually and the drop outs are superb and i'd like to keep them that way. So any idea what nuts are best to use for my Araya's to make it all tight but also prevent fooking up the drop outs?

Cheers,

Matt  :daumenhoch:

But will they be ok for general day to day riding? I thought they were for show bikes only?  ??? :coolsmiley:

Nylon washer, topped with a steel washer, then tighten up as tight as you like.  If you can fit chain tensioners, then they will help to hold everything in place much better   ;)

But one good tug with a normal size spanner is enough. No ratchets, no long bars or owt, just one good tug. A 'polite nip' as we would say in the motor trade  :)

get yourself some Profile chain tensioners........about £15 a pair but worth it for saving your drop outs  :daumenhoch:
