Hi guys just wanted to know what tyres were around in 79-80 and can i get hold of any      :daumenhoch:

comp 2's and at a price yes lol
and motocross type ones that mongooses had

Comp 2s are rare and expensive , a nos set would fetch big money

the kenda ones , are availiable still on us ebay ,they still make them and are cheap

well i sold 3 tyres not so long ago 2 were diamond back comp 2's and one was a michelin
i think i got about £160 give or take a few quid for all 3

Kenda MX or Cheng Shin MX fat and thin blackwall would be good for the time, Mongoose or CyclePro skinwalls would have been around too but they are like the proverbial rocking horse do do  :daumenhoch:.  If you want something that looks similar to oldschool all black tyres try the Tioga Comp x or Factory MX (basically an all black Comp II)  ;).

This is what I have on my 78 DeCoster.. Cheng Shin Knobbly (20x2.125 front / 20x1.75 rear).  They are ideal for your build.
