GT Performer - need advice on parts colour!
« on: September 05, 2008, 01:42 PM »
Got me '85 Pro Performer from Quadrophonia - cheers mate!

Need some advice on what colour parts too build it with. Its got a set of black tuffs on so I was gonna build it all black but as it had the blue headset and grips I stuck the blue seat on and it dont look too sad imo. It'll also have a set of black MX100 copies so I wondered what coulour chainwheel to fit. Also think it would be better with a blue seatclamp but reckon a black chainwheel?

Opinions please!

Its a later version, maybe 85-86. The 84 had the frame standers in the middle of the frame and also only 3 holes in the dropouts mate.

Cant afford to change the black tuffs, anyway I quite likes em in black. Think i'll do the rest in blue, IIRC JT's got some blue 901's.

Next question then, chainring & spider or chainring/powerdisc or one-peice chainwheel?

Like my stunning Gen 2 84 Sport you mean Pete  ;D

Fiola is a bummer, Fiola is a bummer!

Anyways, I can see three holes on the drop outs!

Right, back to seriousness, first things first, black Tuffs and all black tyres on an old school bike is a big fat no no, must be black or white amber walls or a last resort whitewall tyres. But if you like em that's cool as it's your bike dude. Secondly, mix the parts sensibly and you can get away with it. For example, blue grips, blue seat, blue Panaracers with amber walls. Then, black brakes, black pedals, black seat clamp, see where I'm going with this...

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder (that's why Pete likes em cos he fooking blind) so don't feel pressurised into doing anything, go with what you like and fook everyone else!

I hope that helps.

Daz.  :daumenhoch:
