More Mid-school questions
« on: August 28, 2008, 09:08 AM »
Me again with another couple of questions regarding mid-school parts.  As you can probably tell I have a mid-school build on the go (a real special one).

Rims - What rims were used for racing in 95?  Were Ukai's still used or am I better off with something like Araya RB-17's?

Brakes - Same again what was used in 95?

Seat - Svelte or is there a better option.

Thank you.

racing brake?

the pitbull I guess.

all round regular brakes before 990s came along I guess the bulldog is as good as it gets.
available as nromal or freestyle sets in silver or black.

but there were others.

Thanks Joe,

Forgot to mention that the brake needs to be a regular BMX style (like MX1000).

Well, Mid school a pitbull would be fine, it fits in caliper brake hole.

or a bulldog.

but there must be some miod school experts who know what else was around.

I don't think they made any brakes in the 90s that worked as poorly as the mx1000.  :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

Sunn rims were common in 95 on race bikes also ayaya super 7x 36H

Brakes if you had canti lugs on the frame then ONZA cantis were popular but if not Pitbull brake

Seat, odyssey Z77 seat i think

oh yeah Boa's doh.

I got a lovely set of boa's but they have a massive shaft on them, dunno what size but I've never seen a frame and forks that it'll
fit.

 :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

was gonna try them on my dirt bros but I'm not sure the curved brake bridge at the back has enough metal to drill out for a bigger shaft.

You did? Mine never worked properly or very well. Was there a knack to setting them up?

Superb advice from the Mid-school gurus (as usual).  Now anyone have a picture of the Dia-Compe Big Dog?  I saw one on a build and really liked it (IIRC).

Thanks for the picture and the link Joe, I like that caliper a lot.  Would it be the right year for my build?
