Best rider never to be sponsored?

From back in the day (80's only chaps) who would you say was the best rider in your opinion never to get a full sponsorship? U.S. riders can be included too.

Correct me on some of these if you want lads because I'm not 100% certain.

And riders please don't take it the wrong way if I'm wrong.

No particular order.....

Stephen Laidlow
Greg Guillotte (one of our recent additions and good to have you here mate)
Dave Frame (not sure on this one)
John Hudson (3rd oldest of the Hudson bros)

It's all fun lads.

Why only 80's? Some great riders from the 90's were never? sponsored including Gerry Galley and Steve Grace.

was it because it was the 90s, bmx was struggling at the time, just seems weird, jerry to me is an

icon of mid skool, this is only what i see today as i wasn't a part of mid skool :)

Because it's an old school site not mid school  :LolLolLolLol:

Fook it, it's all BMX so you can have 90's and let's be wild, let's have current riders. Makes no odds to me as I only know a hand full of real up to date riders and they're probably all sponsored anyway.

Have who the fook you like I'm in a good mood!

When I saw the title of this thread Denny I thought of him too. And when I saw the last reply was yours I would have bet a shiny 50p that's what you would have written. It's a shame not many on here would have had the chance to have known who he was or seen him ride. Awesome ramp rider for his time.

As has been pointed out (!), Gerry did have some sponsors, but I'm with you on your point too Dan - there weren't many proper sposorships to be had then in the UK, especially early to mid nineties. It seemed like everyone was skint then!
I know I was....

Havn't you seen Dennys video of Marc (and others!) at the  Cardiff warehouse? It's brilliant - he was an amazing ramp rider - go check it out. It's on Dennys myspace page.
